What about pandemic pandemic? Where you have to race around the world stopping players from playing pandemic variants? That will truly be the height of board gaming.
@prawnchips9461
@prawnchips9461 3 жыл бұрын
You're a group of indie board game developers that just release their debut game that took you 50 years to make. But unfortunately, you release it on the same day the new pandemic variant came out and everybody is playing it. Your job is go to different conventions and board game shop around the world treating pandemic game fever, establish your own board game convention, and promote your game in 5 conventions of the same color/region to put your board game as GOTY in that region.

I played the Dispatcher in Season 1, and my friends and I joked that I was "the guy in the chair" and I got so very attached to my character (whom I named Jason). He ended up dying in a very dramatic fashion, and I was more upset by this than by the death of some of my D&D characters. That emotion was something that made Season 1 so amazing for me. I actually got a little frame and framed my character card and its on my board game shelf.

After the first twist in Season one i decided that this problem needed a military solution and fast. So as soon as the colonel became available I grabbed him told my partner "I got this" and almost killed him in one game. *Spoilers* in my head I even named it the battle of Instanbul because after a catastrophic attempt of trying to save the City I got my second scar and decided to just forefit the game. Thats why the Quarantine specialist was the only military character we ever used.

*Big spoilers*, but my Dispatcher, Imada Hitoshi, was one of our favorite characters in the group, absolute MVP. We gave him Veteran and Paramilitary Escort so he could go hoovering up [redacted], but of course that made it so when the time came for the big twist, he and his brother-in-law Nate Beardsley (our soldier) were searching through a falling Algiers for the paranoid soldier, and of course Hitoshi was revealed to be [redacted]. We burned his card with sorrow and rage.

@DragoonBoom
@DragoonBoom 4 жыл бұрын
@@stetsonpowers5010 that number was actually massively inflated by a dipshit boomer whose book has been discredited by everyone else who worked on it. Like that number was Actually Made Up © ...the number is actually closer to 10 million deaths iirc but at that point the author was conflating deaths by natural causes such as age or disease as murder by the state. In fact the actual big killer was when the Soviets messed up their planning and accidentally caused a famine when they brought the feudal era serfdoms of rural Russia into the industrial era with record breaking speeds. But also some simp farmers burnt their own crops in loyalty to the Russian aristocracy haha lol. Hey we live in the modern age, where famines don't happen anymore because our farms are fully industrialised... Unless you live in a third world country that was ravaged by colonialism centuries ago. In fact the 100 million death quota is easily reached by capitalism every 4 years through deaths caused by starvation, exposure or easily preventable diseases, most of which are children. That must be that capitalist efficiency I hear so much about because I certainly don't see it anywhere else! So yeah the communist development of bringing underdeveloped nations into the industrial era in under 10 doesn't sound too bad tbh but oh no people might die of old age. I'm sure capitalism will bring these countries to the first world any day now, even though it won't make any money to do so and also it's where the savage browns and blacks live [imagine that I pulled up a quote by Winston Churchill justifying the famines he caused in India because he felt like it] Heck even in first world countries if you're poor or homeless or live in a food desert you can suffer from malnutrition as a result of a distribution system that throws out half of all produce before it's sold because it technically makes more money that way. But you see if we started giving away food for free or selling it for lower prices it'll disrupt the market, and the economy will go bad and then Coles© won't be able to make a profit and pay their employees. You see we've got to throw out half our food... So that people can afford food... 🤔 Capitalism not only is so bad it causes needless death and suffering it's also dumb as hell. Also my phone autocorrected first to dairy what the hell

Why can I not sip my own cup of tea from my reference pear mug while watching you sip tea in your vids? I need to be able to buy a onesie to label all of my friends' babies as brand new reference pears! I get a cool something, you get a few pounds to keep the fun going, and when my friends and family ask, "what the crokinole is a reference pear," I have an excuse to spread the word about your dope channel! We loved Season 0 and the whole Pandemic Legacy series. I think it's because we didn't really get into Pandemic until Legacy 1 was released, and with the exception of the 1st expansion, never played any of the other variants. So when we tired of Pandemic we had to wait for another legacy to be released. Each one seemed new and fresh and oddly, for us, we prefer them in reverse order. We think 0 is the best balance of tried and true + bold and new, 2 was really experimental (and oddly gorgeous) and 1 was what first got us hooked. Each of them felt unique, and never felt to us like we were just doing the same thing over and over again.
@Hippohydra
@Hippohydra 2 жыл бұрын
It's nice to come across someone else who prefers 2 > 1> 0. We played them in reverse order too (because season 2 was the only one available when we wanted to try out a legacy game) and it was so much more open and immersive to us than the others. We developed a narrative as we played through and got really invested in that story and the characters in it. 1 felt more like base Pandemic but had significant consequences when things went sideways. 0 was of a less interesting theme for us and the consequences also seemed lower. In the end it was a slog to finish and I was relieved that it was done.

Pandemic Iberia is in the mid 19th century, 50+ years before the 1918 flu pandemic (which also didn’t actually originate in Spain). It’s still a quite nice (and pretty!) variant of the original pandemic with new restrictions: no cures (because antibiotics weren’t discovered yet), no eradication, no insta-travel by planes. But also new tools like regional water pumps that prevent disease cubes, travel by boat and building railroads like Ticket to Ride. I actually got it cheaper than OG Pandemic and recommend it if you like the vintage theme.

I wish I could find some people to play an in depth game like these pandemic games. 12-24 sessions of 90 mins each would be fun. This one may be even better since the spy aspect like James Bond lol

Hey Quinn would you mind releasing a review with spoilers (and for future legacy reviews to)? I personally am very hesitant to buy a legacy game due to the seeming lack of replay ability. I would like to see an uncensored version so I can judge the game in a different light. Also if I understand legacy mechanics its unlikely someone else would end up with the same event as you, and even if they did they would still not expect it. I feel uncensoring yourself would allow me to get a better view of what legacy games offer and by making two videos those who don't want spoilers can just watch the other video.

Such an expensive "hobby" to watch these videos... well, what can you do? I guess I gotta buy this Pandemic as the previous ones were so enjoyable!
