I didn't outrun bad habits with ultra-distance, power lifting, triathlon, swimming for 30+ years. I did great until a cancer scare and then my health dumped due to not changing my eating habits and high stress lifestyle. Now I am on my way back from death and ill-health thanks to better understanding of what human nutrition is and a new view of life.

It's important for people to know that excercise is only one of the pillars of health. Thank you.

This panel was fantastic! I enjoyed all perspectives. However, on the last go around, Dr. Baker and James mentioned a couple of things that hit home. Dr. Baker's point of pushing exercise to an overweight, inflammation ridden person in pain is pointless, and after correcting their nutrition with a proper human diet, they would feel better and thus begin to exercise when they felt better. THAT is exactly what happened to ME after a period of months on Carnivore. James' comical (but true) point of looking in the fridge and saying "That's what my food eats!" cracked me up because I was watching this while enjoying a NY Strip wearing an appropriate t-shirt with the slogan "Secondhand vegetarian ‐ Cow eat grass; I eat cow". I subbed to this channel at the beginning of this video. Thanks again! 👍

I lost more fat and got a lot healthier by adopting a carnivore diet than I did with excessive cardiovascular exercise. I know because I tried it. In my 40's, I went from 230 lbs to 202 lbs by riding my bicycle 3-5 days a week during the spring, fall and summer for 20 plus miles. 5,000 total miles over three years. In my 50's, I went from 230 lbs to 190 lbs by just changing my diet with basically ZERO exercise, plus all my health problems went away that the bike riding could not get rid of. So in my experience, changing your diet is way more effective than exercise for improving health and losing excessive fat...

Cardiovascular "exercise" isnt healthy to begin with. Fitness is not health.

I was a gym rat for years earlier in my SAD world. I did ok, but could never get ripped with abs. It would be cool to go back and do it again as a carnivore. At 60 and 3+ months on Carnivore my abs are starting to appear and engage more without working out.

It took me almost a year to fully adapt to it. My health had been in shambles, and it took some experimentation to get down what foods worked best for me. I feel like utter crap when I eat pork and lean meats don’t work well for me. My diet mainly consists of eggs, ny strip loins, ribeyes, ground beef, lamb chops, and a few others. I buy my meat in subprimal cuts, so I get to butcher it all myself and have exact control over the amount of fat in it, it lets me know for sure there isn’t any filler added, and I support my town and local ranchers in the process. But, as I was saying, it took me about a year before my body acclimated properly. I was low in essentially everything my body needed and I had quite a few autoimmune illnesses to work through, but as of today, I’m in the best health of my life. Even going back to pre teen years, I’ve never felt this good, lol

It basically depends on how much garbage one is eating in their starting diet A lot of people who lift and do sports followed the rule of eating a gram of protein per lb of lean bodyweight. So a lot of people were optimized for body composition already before switching to carnivore. They usually make the switch because it eliminates an autoimmune condition, digestive disorder, skin condition, or psychological/cognitive problems, not because of body composition reasons. The three most meaningful things for having a lean body composition are to eat a gram of protein per lb of lean bodyweight, strength train the full body every other day or e3d, and slowly reduce overall food consumption. Its true that health is related to performance, Im just explaining why theres plenty of lean bodybuilders who eat all sorts of food. They may or may not have health issues.

I am truly amazed at how much exercising obese people can do, esp women. I see large groups of obese on road bikes mostly but also slow jogging......the same ones, year after year, it shows you can eat poorly and if no inflammatory disease, you still can get out there and do it! Just because you are obese doesn't mean you are unhealthy....but you could still improve your "sports" results if you got your food addiction under control.

You have really identified how much " punishment " the body can take in the earlier years. The paradox being, the directed self discipline in such a condition actually accelarates the pace of decline and the sad thing is, many then blame the exercise and give up, further accelerating deterioration. Im a 74 yr old version of Shawn Baker and still outtrain 90 of the people in the gym. Thats the next level. The same 90% need educating.
