Pantera - The Sleep
Understanding what has
Happened before us
We are confined to a
Darkened hidden tomb
The conquering of our world
As we knew it
Rise above this pit
Of sorrow and pain
Among the few
We are the avant leaders
We've got to live
Through this trouble and decay
This question haunts my mind
Will we survive this night?
We're harboring the meek
Will we survive the sleep?
Unsure and scared
We are planning our reprise
Revolves around this world
We don't know anymore
The odds against us
Yet we're stronger and prevailing
Learn from mistakes
Counting souls for sale
This question haunts my mind
Will we survive this night?
We're harboring the meek
Will we survive the sleep?

This song always make me think about the bit from the Pantera home videos, where Dime is filming himself in the mirror with a towel on his head (lol), and talks about how no electronic/manufactured/computer music will ever beat someone singing/playing from their fucking soul even if they are on some out of tune piece of shit guitar. Fuck algorithms and todays enhanced auto tune shit. Listen to that fucking solo!

Lonnie Booth indeed. something has been askew in music since the late 90s/early 00s. there is still great music being made of course. But it isn't getting the same exposure as it may have previously. not to sound like a tinfoil hat wearer, but I think the 90s was when the record industry was basically told to stop letting real rebellious music onto airwaves. just look at what passes for metal now. or rap. or punk. they were speaking truth and now it's all about promoting the "scene" instead of promoting ideas. controlled opposition. most fm radio is owned by one of 5 major companies, who also own the major record labels, they now controll many internet outlets. they are doing what they can to control what you're listening to and seeing. options will be limited further in the future.

My dad introduce me to this album when I was like 12 or 13, didn't like it at first, I was listening to MM and COF by then. As the years passed I learned what true feeling and power was. Pantera is really one of a kind and Im ashamed of never seem them live. I would pay millions to see them in some random gig in the 90's, what an era it must have been.
