we have a side by side and I have been saying for probably 6 months or longer we need to take everything out see what we have an organize everything better. I need to get a few bins to hold stuff we just shove it where ever and hope the door closes 😳

Hi Chelsie, thanks for stopping by! It's kind of crazy how often our freezers need re-organizing, but I've decided it's just part of the homelife routine - there is no perfect system lol. 🤪 I got the clear bins last year, and they definitely help!

Sadly a lot of content creators are buying all of the groceries now so they can make it the 2 months.......thank you for staying true to the challenge.

You are so right about that - it really defeats the purpose of doing a pantry/freezer challenge, doesn't it? Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment!

Congratulations on the amazing produce clearance finds at Sprouts! I started shopping more at Sprouts towards the end on 2023 thanks to you sharing your awesome finds. I've found some great mark downs but not any on produce. Still grateful to always find great produce clearance at my local Kroger. I'm also trying to stay out of the stores as much as possible this year. Hopefully, we can inspire one another along on this challenge!🙂

Hey April, thanks for stopping in! That's greaat you've been checking Sprouts out! I'm not sure if the great clearance deals at my store are a-typical, or if it's just a timing thing because it's the only one in my area. Their prices are very high on most items - even higher than Publix, so if it's not on a clearance deal or an unusual item that even Publix doesn't carry (like rye flour), I'm not buying it. I literally go there for the produce clearance only pretty much - there's always hope, right?! Love your videos, and I always look forward to the next one! ♥

Onions make potatoes sprout. If you can store them in different rooms and keep potatoes in the dark. You’ll double their life

Thanks for the tip!

When emptying or eating down just a portion of a full (remote) freezer, I tend to begin more from the top or the front just to get enough room to move things around. In this effort, I sorta, kinda try to get themolder ite,items, first but the primary goal is to just get enough room to be able to move things. Then I do start moving things on a per shelf or section basis trying to get to threback and/ or the bottom where the older things tend to ly. Until there is more room, I don't over concern myself on actual,organization otjer than to group like things together and move older stuff to the front/ top.

Hi Terry. I do the same thing you mentioned most of the time. I like to do semi-annual re-organizations because I get frustrated with not being able to find stuff I know is there, lol.

@@betterlivingonabudget I grew up with an old Amana upright which wasn't front free; it still in use by the way. Then went on to have lesser and better frost frees and now have a small chest freezer which is not frost free. Jan-Mzrch has always been the time frame ro eat down 8n the freezer a bit, empty it, defrost as needed, wash/ sanitize as needed, then repack it. During the time I had a better frost free, a friend asked why I was doing this ....Then it dawned on me the practice was a left over from having to defrost. Still,did it 'cause of the cleaning and organizing thst went on.

That's awesome your Amana still works!! They sure don't make quality appliances like they used to! @@terryhenderson424

Yay for ice cream!! I love coconut shrimp as well! you are well stocked my friend! I am so excited to see how you use everything! That chowder? looked good!

Hi Mandie, thanks for stopping by! I bought an ice cream maker so I can make healthy versions. It's hard to find no-sugar ice cream that isn't outrageously expensive or have chemicals in it. So I'll def be making a future vid on that after I perfect some recipes, lol. 😋😋 I'm looking forward to making room in the S/S freezer, but it's going to take a couple months, that's for sure!

@@betterlivingonabudget oh that’s a great idea!! You could use some sugar free chocolates as mix ins! I love the sugar free Reese cups! Also the Hershey bars are good! Well I’m sure you already know. Have a great day Sheri!

Happy New Year Sheri. Yes! 2024 already. I m glad to see you feeling better. Interesting challenge! I don't have a pantry, never had. And my fridge is a joke. So tiny, I bought it that way on purpose to avoid emotional eating. Sometimes it is bad because I don't have things at hand but most of the time it is good cuz we never over eat snacks or waste food because of expiration. I love the green accents in your living room. 20 dollars a week sounds really good. 25 cents for that salad bag. Wow ❤ hmmm ginger shots so yummy 😋. You can make pear cider in the crockpot. You found really good deals at the store. Good job! A little bit over 50 is amazing 👏😍 it's a pity I cant try some of those shrimps I m allergic to selfish.

Hi Dono, thanks for stopping in and taking the time to comment! Oh my goodness, a small refrigerator/freezer - I don't know how you do it?! It's a no-food-waste strategy, that's for sure. I've never had pear cider, but it sounds delicious, thanks for the idea. Oh no, seafood allergies are no fun, that's a tough one.

I need to invest in a bits and bites bin for my freezer. I have things all over my small freezer.
@betterlivingonabudget6 ай бұрын
Hi Deborah. I bought a few of the heavy-duty clear bins last year, and it really does help keep things organized, and you can get more stuff in the freezer.

You're well stocked! How many people in your family?
@betterlivingonabudget6 ай бұрын
Hi Susan. I'm a recent empty nester, now down to just me and three cats, so I'm def well stocked. I may be able to go 3-4 mo with buying only produce/dairy.
