In this video I'll tell you where I find all the parts and pieces I use to make my paper dolls and what to look for as you start collecting for yourself. I will also show you how I organize and store them.

My mother in law loves baby dolls and collects them from everywhere.. yard sales, goodwill... you get the idea. She takes them home and cleans/grooms them and they are ALL around the entire house (sitting on every couch & chair, shelves, on the floor, even in the bathroom. I've never thought twice about baby dolls until seeing her home...... even my granddaughters are creeped out - so I totally understand :)

My mom put most of her doll collection away but she keeps her favorite on the dresser in the guest bedroom where I sleep when I visit. The first time I visited I put the doll in a dresser drawer then laid awake half the night convinced I could hear it trying to claw its way out. The next night I told my mom that doll would have to sleep in her room and she would have to give me a solemn oath on her life that she would make sure the doll STAYED in her room all night.

OMG, your too funny! I think I seen that same movie..LOL! I too owned one baby doll but LOVE paper dolls. Love your collection book. I say just keep doing your art journal in any journal book chosen at the moment. That's the whole beauty! TFS!

Shannon that movie you talked about sounds a lot like an Twilight Zone episode, my niece, who is now 30 is still afraid of dolls because of that show! Love your dolls!

You are so funny Shannon and so very organised. I also cut out anything interesting and body parts but mine are all just thrown together into a plastic folder. They sure would be easier to find your way LOL. Hugs Lynn

I have a few journals on the go too, but... I do have one MAIN one, that I use most of the time... but sometimes when I have some paint or whatever leftover ... I like to use another journal to put that in, ... so I don't waste, and that can dry in that one, and I can keep going in the main one. I LOVE your paper dolls, The one from 2003, is cool. I can relate to your baby doll phobia and nightmares (though it's milder for me, and I like paper and "assemblage" dolls).

Normally I don't because I typically use them on a journal page or other flat surface. If I wanted to use them as paper dolls and have them standing, then I would definitely use a cardstock backing.

I went thru a art paper doll phase once, I even made an altered board book and glued some of my beauties in it. I have a binder somewhere that has some of my dolls in it too. Now, don't get me started making dolls again, I have enough art projects going on right now!!!

I honestly can't remember if it was a movie or a TV series. I saw it on TV, that's all I know. Well...and it scarred me for life, I know that too!

I bet that's the movie I saw as a child. The woman put the doll in the oven to try to 'kill' it and it chased her... that traumatized me for life. Anyway, awesome dolls. I love your videos. You are a riot.

Chuckie!!! My now-28--year-old son hated all dolls, and still does. He didn't really like stuffed animals either. They all stared at him and he thought they were scheming against him.

I love dolls also. I have made cloth dolls forever. Now I’m interested in what you are doing. I have my doll from my childhood and my kids and grands won’t sleep in the same room with her. I think the show you were talking about is a Twilight Zone episode. At the time it was terrifying

I've seen both of those, it's not either one. I was telling a friend about the movie and she recognized it because she saw the same one. She said it's called Lights Out and it's from the early 70s. I've never been able to find a clip from the movie or any stills so I don't know for sure. But it left a lasting impression!

Hi Shannon! I've really been enjoying watching a lot of your different movies. I don't know if this is the same doll, because I'm not sure exactly what year these movies started: but there were a few movies with a doll named Chuckie and he had a striped shirt and overalls and wild red hair with freckles. And he was a homicidal maniac. His voice too! He scared the living crap out of me when I was a kid.

Wonderful idea keeping all the people and accessories bits and pieces in a folder. I'm new to junk journals but adored paper dolls as a child so this aspect of the craft is fascinating to me. Thankyou for the inspiration. I was thrilled to find a new paper doll and theatre costume kit at a second hand book fair recently. Oh my goodness you wouldn't want to visit my place - I have a very large collection of very realistic baby dolls! Best wishes from Australia :)

Trilogy of Terror was the movie you are looking for. It had 3 separate stories. I first saw it on TV in the 70's.

I remember Trilogy of Terror, that's not the doll that scarred me for life. If I could draw I could sketch that doll down to the very last detail!

Glad you enjoyed the video! I've never been able to find a clip or stills from the movie (which I think was called Lights Out) and can only remember one scene really. Apparently it had quite an impact!

This was waaayyy before Chucky. This was a movie from the late 60s or early 70s. A friend told me she saw the same one and it's called Light's Out. I've never been able to find any stills or clips from the movie to confirm it. Actually I don't really know that I want to!

brilliant. You are so funny. I could hear the fear in hour voice over baby dolls. I loved my baby dolls. However I was tortured by three little boys holding me down and dangling worms over my mouth. I'm 67 and still deathly afraid if worms. It stays with you

Not enough information! Find me that doll image!! There is an episode of the Light's Out TV series that has to do with a doll (Doll in The Brambles or something like that) and I've ordered the DVD so I can see if that's the one. The pilot show might be it but I'm pretty sure that what I saw was in black and white.

OMG Shannon the same thing happened to me with the doll nightmares. The tv program I believe was from The Twilight Zone when a doll came to life and attacked Karen Black with something sharp. To this day I have a fear of dolls. But on a happier note ~ I love your videos. You always put a smile on my face ~ hugs ~ : ) janet

I'm coming in late as I just stumbled across this video recently. I know exactly what you are referring to. It was a movie with three different stories. It was called Trilogy of Terror. I'll never forget it as I have had the heebee jeebees about dolls coming to life ever since!

Ha! Trilogy of Terror was creepy but that wasn't the doll that did me in. The movie I saw was in the early 70s...maybe even late 60s. I can remember the doll vividly but not the movie.

tim holtz has a collection of paper dolls that's more versatile and adult. my brother (rip) ruined my cabbage kid a bald premie girl named tristan) the only doll i had that i really liked besides the original baby alive.) for a school project. he never asked me for permission he just took it. strangely after almost a year i miss the fact that he did things like that. i lust after the tim holtz collection but his stuff is hella-expensive. is that a word? sry about that. lol. anyway my sister was the one who got paper dolls or perhaps it was one of my cousins and i loved them though and wanted to keep them for myself. l started making my own paper puppets on sticks awhile ago using my own grumpy characters. in a way they're dolls i guess. anyway i love your ideas.

why not take a quick photo of each journal page, with the cover of the book included in the photo set? then you could archive them by cover in folders on your computer? also, with regard to paper dolls and accessories, if you have the ability to view and modify vector files, there's tons of free vector resources available on the web. and i like your paper dolls. quirky and funky fun.

ooo I LOVE the paper dolls, how cool is that?! Anyway, about journal organizing even though you've probably figured out a system already. How about, like goes with like? Pretend you're sorting things into piles, which bin would this page go in? I will eventually make a book for my pages but right now I'm just making pages. Never thought about needing more than two books but whatevs I'm just starting. Anyway, LOVE THE DOLLS, they make me happy. :-)

Could you make some sort of index that is ongoing? Doesn’t have to be fancy and you could tack to bulletin board (i do this for folders by color) so I don’t lose the index itself! :)

Shannon Green : your baby doll! The one your Sister chopped lashes off? That is sad! I have an older sister! ( A True “Bad Seed”! Well, I was not in school, 4 years old about; well we taken to the store - to choose or say what we really wanted SC to bring to us! At this store; there were these Rubber dolls with eyelashes, no teeth - They really looked like Chubby baby’s of the 1950-60s. Well, she finally, after had Two boys no Female children. Pitched a fit at Christmas, after the Dolls. Were redressed in real Lacy. Christening Gowns! Pitched a two old fit - that I had promised as a child to give Her my Baby Doll when it Professional dressed! - to shut up 🤐 I gave it to Her! I got talked to by everyone - how could I make Her so upset???? YAdda YAdda! Hysterical- how some are over dolls! Everyone pointed out to me I had no female child to give it too. I am sorry about your poor baby doll! Ps I told Dawn at Lets make a mess- to watch your videos. She loves paper dolls.

"My name is Talking Tina and I'm going to kill you." That one? I've look through all of the Twilight Zone doll episodes and none of them are the movie I saw. Although some them are super creepy! I'm pretty sure the movie is called Lights Out. I've never been able to find any clips to confirm that tho.
