Paper LTD stirling engine

Күн бұрынThis model is made of paper, it can run on a bowl of hot water and ice up to 13 minutes. Top and bottom surfaces of heat exchanger are made of office paper reinforced with cardboard ribs, most of parts are soaked with superglue to achieve strength and water resistance.
Displacer is also made of office paper, and its drive is made in the form of oscillating frame, as it is not possible to make it as a conventional airtight vertical rod. Diaphragm is made of napkin covered with glue for rubber.

Nicely done! To be honest I'm surprised this works. Usually more roughly built Stirling engines need a significant temperature difference to overcome their inefficiencies.

+Riu Hamaiami , это да, скорее просто демонстрация того что стирлинг все-таки можно сделать из бумаги. Но в принципе я уже неделю как периодически его запускаю, потом просушиваю, и снова можно запускать. Пока работает :)

+KZfaq_Cheese , no, as far as I know steam engines appeared much earlier, and one of the reason for stirlings appearing was care about personnel servicing steam engines - they are quite dangerous because of high steam pressure and boilers' tendency to explosions. And stirling engines have much less pressure of working fluid

As the air displacer in the base of the engine moves up and down, the large air volume quickly heats, then cools, causing the power "piston" / membrane to expand and contract, thus turning the wheel.
