I was very lucky to walk away from this crash having stalled shortly after take off.
Proir to this launch, I'd had approximately 25 successful take off/landings, and totalling about 10 hours of flight time.
Safe to say I have learned a lot from this experience!

Thanks for sharing. It looks like it was a morning flight, I think I saw dew on the grass. If your wing was wet that makes a big performance difference and the extra long run looked like a symptom of a wet wing.

You are lucky that tree was there to cushion your fall, at least that was a thought.. Here is a tip, either get a better wing to fly, or fly it with the trimmer opened to the position that your mallions are in line, so the metal triangles that hold each line, make sure those are flat & neutral.. I dont know your skill level at all, however you can reach out to me anytime if you want some help via private message or my website paramotor louisiana, i teach & fly around the world with my paramotor. Here is a tip for everyone to remember. Do not take off with the trimmers on full slow unless your wing is built for it, clearly this one is not & it is on the edge of stall flying too slow, or this wing is not trimmed correctly. The design out of the box is wrong if its a new one, if it's a used wing, well maybe you have some line shrink in the rear set of lines. In my experience the wing design is not right and i would not fly it with the trimmer on slow ever again if that happened. Get the glider inspected or get a new one - hope that helps you out!

Olly Faire great comeback buddy, lesson learned, had I been in your shoes I would have known to trim it fast which would have prevented the stall. Ben Potter actually you should read some more manuals or trust me, the expert of paramotoring because I promise you every bit of kit that I own, try it yourself - open the trimmer a little bit & see the difference. Dude, I'm so glad you're okay! A crash like that can be very dangerous especially with a fairly unsafe paramotor. Thank God for those trees to absorb your impact! That is extremely unacceptable that your wing stalled on you like that. That would really make me nervous to ever fly it again. A good wing should not stall under any situation. This happened to my late brother about 3 years ago. He tried to take off in Gibraltar in open land but the air was too still. 26 seconds after takeoff he fell to the ground, broke both legs, ruptured his spleen and chocked on his tongue. He didn't have anyone with him and was found around 3 hours later, passed out and unresponsive. He suffered traumatic brain damage and now, at 38, lives at home with mum and dad who have to wash him and feed him. @@fairyfairyfairyfairy ok, i've never launched mine on full trimmed in. But despite what people are saying below, it does actually state in the manual that it's perfectly fine to launch fully trimmed in. Obviously you'd want less brake input at this setting, but it's still surprising to see it happen on this wing. From the on board video it looks like you parked the brake just before it stalled, i'm guessing this can't be right. Anyway i'm glad you got out of it okay and hope that the damage wasn't too much.
@fairyfairyfairyfairy
@fairyfairyfairyfairy 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the confirmation, that is what I had read as well, but nice to have another opinion. Hugely appreciated. I had parked my right brake yes, but what the footage struggled to show is I had been on the brakes far too long trying in vain to gain height. Then when I clocked the tree and power lines approaching I pulled more left brake causing the air speed to drop beyond what it could cope with hence the stall..

I had this wing for a while I always braked a little to get off ground then hands up let it fly and and I climbed like crazy... if you didnt brake on both sides after it show you go up to pulley I think it must of been rotor over those trees or something how much you weigh and what motor is that your climb rate seemed low

I wrongly held brakes for a while, then stowed them to get into the seat, then pulled left to avoid the big tree.. that was what did it... If I’d weight shifted instead I may have got enough speed back to climb away.. It is a great wing and normally I climb quickly with no issues

What size is that wing? What motor size? What prop? How much do you weigh? That take off was really long and the lack of climb says that there simply wasnt enough ooomph to get you.climbing. i fly a 200, carbon fibre 3 blade prop, with 25m dudek universal wing and i would have easily been 100ft in the air by that tree line. I doubt the sinkntheory...the way you launched wing up means almost zero wind.0your clothes, wet grass and type of clouds tell me it wasnt thermic...so other issues were the cause. Also the dudek universal is by far one of the best pg/ppg wings on the market..its got all the bells and whistles and is a brilliant first wing. Its an absolute joy to launch and a rock solid wing in the air. I own a universal as well as an ozone sirocco...the dudek is a way better design in terms of technologies an functionality. the wing has had difficulty getting into lift because your arm movements were constantly braking the wing at takeoff. also you can clearly see that as soon as you have noticed the wires of the current you have picked up the controls and you have stuck the wing.
