Paramotor Trike Faceplant

Hurricane Ian had passed. We got a ton of rain. The sandy soil was loose and damp. The skinny wheels of my home made trike were no match for heavy loading and an 8 knot crosswind landing. So glad I chose the grass and not the pavement! Good God this is a humbling activity...If you aren't humbled today, there's always tomorrow.

Yep. narrow tires, soft hurricane soaked sand and just a few minor bruises.

Ahh that sucks! Was a perfect landing, too! At least you didn't break your hand like I did! Or explode a prop. That was on an attempted takeoff only glancing at my out-of-control wing. Lesson learned the hard way there. Talk about humbling, lol!

Sunken front wheel + lift on right riser? How is the load supposed to be distributed between front and back wheels when static with pilot on-board? 75/25? 90/10?

That music was choice did the same thing on a air trike flat top from Dell broke the carbon fiber strut first actually after bending the forks and bought heavy duty ones and then had aluminum square tubing piece made to replace carbon fiber strut that holds the front wheel and then broke the back Carbon Fiber One then after that did a face plant the first time second time slid in didn't even realize it broke replace that again looking for another trike to mount. ,,,, / looking for a used lowboy trike possibly mount on the flat top I paid for it I'm going to use it it flies okay have a sky Cruiser also with a pollini Motors 303 screwed up motor I having to be rebuild 3rd time just the flywheel..

Was landing into the wind not possible or did you get a little bit complacent here?

The only section of east-west grass had two issues...1) my foot launching buddy had just landed there and had his stuff out still and 2) there were two sets of recent survey markers, where the administrator plans to gain approval for some new T-hangars. They wouldn't have been an issue for a foot landing, but I was concerned with the trike being lower to the ground that I might gobble up one of the stakes and ding the new prop I'd just installed. But yeah, a ton of decisions can play into mishaps and accidents. I'm glad I didn't use the asphalt area for sure!

Old body. Only sore and one bruise, but I hadn't flown the Samurai much lately so it may have been from launch or more aggressive flying.

Think almost anybody who has ever used wheels on a paramotor has a story like that. I’ve got one (ok maybe 5 lol!) 😬hope you and machine are both ok

Thing is I really can't point to anything I would say "caused" it...soft sand? crosswind landing? but I've made many without the issue. I flew last night with no issues...

I’ve made a hundred cross wind landings without issue but I had my trike on 2 wheels Monday before I got it to a stop. Like you said…humbling
