When we decided to meet my parents in SE Asia I knew we couldn't miss out on visiting Vietnam so we wangled a few days over in Hanoi.
We pretty much spent the entire time wandering round soaking in the madness that is Vietnam. All while eating delicious Vietnamese street food and drinking far too much Vietnamese coffee.
I flipping love Vietnam, what a place eh 🇻🇳

Very humble and down to earth parents. They might enjoy walking in the old streets and night markets of Taiwan. Relaxing in natural hot spring. Perhaps one day you can bring them there. Love your videos

Such a great video, Ellis! This wasn't their first time in Asia, right? If so, wow, they are good sports and pretty open-minded and willing to try anything. At that age, sitting on those stools cannot be easy, but they look like that wanted to try anything and just immerse themselves. Your dad was like a kid in a candy store and his excitement and curiosity was so contagious. Makes for a such a great video. Take them to Ninh Binh, Hoi An and Hue. I bet they'd love those places.

And see how passionate alisa and you travel, explore, adapt and too much knowledge to tell the world, which is you're not only can enjoy tourist attractions places but also try others places that not common for tourist, Logger, KZfaqr, etc2. And i would say, both you and alisa are foods lover. Everywhere you step, you won't miss to try what local offers. That's the reason I keep tracking your channel. I would say, good contents for people to learn (especially local language), to appetite culture and foods, and most importantly giving a string to attach with people wherever you go. Only been to Vietnam 2 times this far and it combines to 8 weeks... and most of the time in the north. Have to say that sure you can say that people are cold based on that they are straight forward -but they have all been so helpfull, service minded and friendly wherever I interacted with them. I would have loved to bring my parents there but their health sadly dont allow it.. it's so special and wierd that you can fall in love with a place that fast.. I've been around at alot of places in europe but not even the high end ocean views of Nice - France can hold up to a local alley in Hanoi.

Overseas Viets have been selling HCMC hard over Hanoi since they're still bitter about the war. But the Western vloggers I've seen love Hanoi and the north better. I think they like the culture, tradition, history, etc., which HCMC lost in trying to be too Western. Hanoi has this quiet charm that attracts foreign travelers. Vacationers/travelers don't want to go see/do things they can see/do in any Western country, which is what HCMC is like. Also, there's more natural beauty in the north from the caves to the karsts on land and in water. There's Ninh Binh, which many foreigners absolutely love.

Ellis oi its a Friday evening here in West Sussex I am home alone watching your video about Hanoi my home town. Missing it so much and dying for the food you and your parents are having. I recognise every location in the video.. and OMG, just as I was wondering about where it is that you have pho that you keep saying it’s so good, the camera shows its 20 Nguyen Thương Hien,,,, ít was MY street. I lived there all my life until I got married . My house was just a few doors down on the same side.. It was nothing like it is now. It used to be very quiet with just a couple of tea stalls on street. Can’t wait to come back in a couple of months. Thanks for your lively video. Enjoy your time there and all the best 😊. If you're not familiar with the food, do the food tours with various companies. The tour guides are great and will take you for some good food places (unless you request adventurous food for the tour...LOL) and will teach you the history and customs of the country.

Hope you and your family will go to West Lake to see the sunset, try Pho Chien Phong, Pho cuon at Ngu Xa street. It is a wonderful spot in Hanoi besides Hoan Kiem Lake.

Your parents are fully converting over to the SE Asia lifestyle. Eating street food on plastic chairs, tai chi, durian runs, speaking the local languages, talking to locals. It's an addictive lifestyle.

Tôi là người Việt Nam và tôi luôn cảm thấy dị ứng và khó chịu khi người Việt nào đó bán hàng cho người ngoại quốc với giá cao hơn hẳn giá bán cho người Việt. Dù mặc cả giá là văn hoá phổ thông ở Việt Nam và chính nhiều người Việt Nam cũng là nạn nhân của điều đó. Tùy nhiên tôi chắc chắn rằng số người bán hàng thiếu trung thực chỉ là số ít thôi. Chúc các bạn vui vẻ video rất tuyệt, giá đình hạnh phúc.

This only happens in tourist areas like old quarter. Other than this we've never been lied to in Vietnam. People are hardworking, honest and respectful 🇻🇳🙏

Hi Ellis! Normally, I only watch videos about Thailand but your parents are so lovely that I had to watch this Vietnam vlog! I will continue to watch until they return to England. Please go back to Thailand soon! BTW...you should start a POLYGLOT channel because you're really good at picking up languages.

Hello! Breads can be dipped in hot soup, (sometime hot milk coffee as a snack), but nothing cold or juice. Just pay attention to people around how they eat it to fully enjoy the dish. Have fun!

You have to explain to your dad that he has to slow cross walk and let oncoming vehicle traffic avoid and not him avoiding traffic. He's more likely going to get hit if he makes spontaneous movement like that.
