It's probably changed because of parents getting mad and saying "my child isn't a they!" Not because "what's their name?" is incorrect.

I guarantee that somebody will be triggered that anyone includes "their" in the options at all.

For anyone who is overly concerned with brevity, "what's your kid's name?" would work well enough.

If you ask "What is his, her, or their name?" they will get mad because "nobody is a they!" And if you ask "what's your kid's name?" they will get mad because "shouldn't you be more professional?" Nevertheless, school administrators will try to avoid conflict whenever possible. "What is his, her, or their name?" sounds exactly like the kind of script that school administrators would tell office staff to use to avoid conflict. It uses way more words than necessary, therefore it must be the most inclusive and least likely to offend, at least in the eyes of someone who's not acting as the first line of defence all day, every day.

A parent being supportive of a kid with such a personal, sensitive situation is likely to keep a low public profile regarding same, out of respect/care for the kid. I have been trans since seventh grade. It is not wrong, and not supporting a child through that can lead them to feel unwanted and alone. Speaking from experience.

Being trans does NOT change who you are. Support your child no matter what. I agree that children shouldn’t be getting surgeries, but something as simple as calling them a different name and pronouns shouldn’t be a big deal. Not supporting your child is a good way to get cut off. This isn’t me trying to be rude, I just want to share my own thoughts as a trans person with parents who think like this. It does hurt. Be careful what you say to your child and how you’re treating them

Very few people who transition in adolescence transition back, and the strong majority who do are under HEAVY pressure (like, do you want a place to live pressure) from family to detransition and re-transition once they figure out a way to survive alone. Are there exceptions? Yes, and it’s a lot more common for people to regret a nose job or taking antidepressants. The only reason to object is if you believe God created two perfect, distinct categories of people and commanded that everyone be assigned one for life at birth, because that sure isn’t a scientific opinion! 🤷‍♀️

Why would I allow those? because therapy against body dysmorphia doesn’t work when the body is rapidly changing in the „wrong“ (persived wrong) direction The body dysmorphia just becomes worse As worse as trying to cut off breast or testicles by hand - the teens mutulate themselves in those cases and they suffer immensely. Because it’s such a tabu subject they don’t trust most adults and won’t tell anyone until it’s to late I work with teens! I have seen this! If it gets really worse and they don’t trust the grown ups around them they mutulated themselves or even killed themself because they felt trapped and hopeless in their own body’s. With empathy and therapy they can find themselves some are actually trans some just have a phase You just shouldn’t push them in either direction! So don’t cut them off from ALL Healthcare!!! That’s my point and my prediction what will happen with those bill. Because this is what often happens with such a broad ban!

Your opinion on allowing kids to be trans reflects bad on the parents of said child is a bad opinion and is actually very wrong.

Simply allowing a child to be who they are isn't wrong or bad, kids know that they are different when they in the single digits. It's been studied and documented. We'd be further along if the Nazis didn't destroy books on research into the trans community back in the 40s.
