I think taking cash is exactly the wrong thing to do. Over here in the UK very few people who do this sort of job or who run temporary car parks take cash anymore as they are a sitting target for anyone who wants to rob them. It’s dangerous enough over here and we don’t have the guns that you guys do. Stick to taking the cards.

@@THETRUTHofKZfaq the UK has a higher life expectancy rate, lower infant mortality rate, free national healthcare, less murders and crime than the US, more workers rights, longer paid holidays than the US, higher educational standards than the US and a better standard in the quality of food and water just to name a few things. This along with very few guns and only 5% of a police force having to be armed means this dump is a better place to live than the good old US of A. Just one question, when you asked your cousin to marry her did she say no because you were already married to your sister.

Johnny, I'm surprised you unhooked the car before the transaction was completed. Since a lot of people do not carry cash on them, it might be better for others if you checked with the police and explained your dilemma to get their suggestion on how to best handle situations like this. I'm sorry that idiot took advantage of your kindness. Many tow companies will no longer accept credit cards for illegal parking anymore.

I'm subscribed to you and to several other channels where they tow, one of the being in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Being a resort area there, they only take cash for illegal parks, whether for a drop fee or a tow to their yard. Angry people will use a card or a check, then dispute the charge or stop payment on a check. Most are from out of state, so they know it's hard to pursue payment. Been watching you for years, Johnny. You're the best.

And some of the excuses they come up with are just ridiculous! Especially the ones parked at Five Guys, literally feet from the parking garage!

Here's a solution: Get the picture of the card and the ID first. Then, they can call. If they balk, take it away.

Some comments saying that the guy looked like he was “on drugs” or “comatose” etc. He was nothing more than entitled. Just stood there. Stoic. He knew exactly what was going on. He knew exactly what he did wrong, but totally had an attitude about it. Johnny, please let us know in a future video whether or not this man disputed the charge. I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t. I actually thought you would just take the car to the yard if he refused to show identification…

I understand that you can't force people to give their card and license, but with all the fraud out there it's necessary as long it's secure. Ultimately company policy is probably going to turn to, refusal of picture will mean a tow, no pay out option. Stay safe Johnny and keep'em rolling

The guy didn't care that he messed up other people's ability to pay by card, just as long as he got his car without following your company's procedures, even after you showed how secure that site was. I sincerely hope his actions come back to bite him in his a.s and I wish you had rubbed it in his face Johnny that being a cheapskate cost him $100 compared to the cheap cost of parking at the hospital. I know of a lot of towing companies that only take cash for illegal parks due to the disputes. I think it’s a good thing. And good for you for videoing the cars before the tows. Stay safe out there !

I watch a few towing channels, and - yes - very few seem to accept CC payments for illegal parking these days. All cash only. The reason being that people call their bank and do a stop payment really fast. Many of them also go the extra step of calling the local PD to run the tag as many people want to drive around these days without insurance or valid tags and so forth. Depending on the laws for a municipality, the impound may go to their lot instead. They will usually do a reimbursement once a week or so to the towing company for the towing fee as they see this as a way of making the roads safer for everyone. Laws vary greatly, needless to say!

Nowadays you have to CYA at every turn, money is tight and people will claim fraud no matter that their actions was the cause. I wouldn't offer anything but cash for a drop fee either. Cash only? That's what Everything Autos in Gatlinburg Tenn. does for illegal park tows. They've been burned too many times by people doing a charge back on their cards. (Except their drop fee is $150, and $300 if it goes to the impound lot).

man, that first guy attitude was strange.. I want to say it was chill but it was more so, he didn't register what was going on. Needed time to think about paying out his car... I don't need time to think about it, if my car is hooked and I have the opportunity to pay out, I'm paying out. Those fees start racking up.
