I think what may make a difference is a thinner kerf blade. The kerf on this Freud looks to be 2.4mm, which is reasonably thick for these small battery saws. You can get down to 1.5mm on some blades at this size and that means there is less mass for the saw to spin and less blade to force through the material. Less teeth would also be good, but the. You compromise cut quality I suppose.

I have one of these too. I actually bought It to cross cut full plywood boards (to fit In my car) from my wood supply shop that does not cut to length there products. I just pull out the saw In the parking lot and cut away 😀 Works great for that although I plan to fit a CMT Orange Tools 150x1.6x20 ITK (thin) saw blade and see how that works. It needs more power on Its own and maybe a 4amp battery would benefit a bit but If you don´t go overkill on the thickness of what you need to cut, It does ok. Thanks, great help as all your videos.

Perhaps the issue is more about the power of the saw rather than the blade. As you said the cut was cleaner with the Freud but both blades faltered in the cutting tests. The Hikoki you tested it against was brushless which would make it significantly more powerful than the Parkside (and more expensive).

I dont think you can expect much better than what you got here with a 2.0amp battery.. Any brushed saw on a 2.0amp battery will be poor, in my view this did remarkably well.. A 4.0amp battery is needed for the big motors running a circular saw.. 4.amp batterys have more current availible to the motor .. I would never use a small battery on a saw like that, you will shorten the life of the battery in no time..

Circular blades don't cut around corners. Obviously, your freehand cuts are wobbling from side to side. Each time the whole surface area of the blade is being force wedged into contact with the stock causing huge friction and you're depending only on the riving knife to keep you safe from kickback. ( if fitted ) Anyway, properly running the saw along a track or a straight edge batten may allow for relevant testing and may even stop your saw stalling. PS I use only Freud blades and I think they're more than top notch for 99% of DIY people... They're not too expensive and there are always good deals available if you shop around. It's a time saver to have a brand you can automatically trust.

Great reviews. However, I think I can see why your tool isn't performing as well as it should. Your bettery! It's a piece of junk! Those 2Ah batteries are okay for low drain tools or where space is tight e.g. drilling inside a cabinet. You see, the current draw of a circular saw is greater than what those puny 2Ah batteries can provide. I am pretty certain that on each occasion where the saw stopped, the fault wasn't the blade or the motor but the battery's inability to deliver the power required. Do this, and the previous test with the Hitachi, with a 4Ah battery (or 8Ah, of which more in a moment) and you'll see the difference. For the reason just given I don't own any 2Ah batteries, coz they're a waste of time. Parkside now have a range of Performance batteries that are not yet on sale in the U.K. These Performance battery packs are backwards compatible with the X20 series batteries like the one you used in the video, but offer greater current draw AND twice the capacity in a casing pretty much the same size as the X20 battery packs. So that means you could have an 8Ah battery that's the same size as current 4Ah batteries. Change the batteries and use the thinner blue Expert range of Bosch blades and you're gonna see a vast improvement in performance. Regards Paul

My thoughts are the same. However the battery came with the saw as a bundle as far as I can remember. I have bought a larger battery and I'm planning to make a follow up video in September 👍

The Freud made all the difference. Now can you test cutting with just the Freud, and not the Parkside? :-D
