This episode covers the start of the trek from the parking lot to David Lake, 44kms from the trailhead with just 2 hours of sleep. Not the smartest plan. See how we fare.

I fell behind on my KZfaq homework. I’m finally getting back after it. I so enjoy your videos. The scenes in this park are just absolutely gorgeous and exactly what I need right now. I’m tired of watching the news and learning about current events I want to see nature. Thank you so much David

I’m not a hiker, but I bushwhack in the fall so I know this trek was quite the undertaking! Looked like a tough one David 👍
@ThePursuitofPassion4 жыл бұрын
Marc, wouldn't say it was as difficult as a bushwhack, but in terms of distance, yes. 😄

Wow, that's quite the trek. Some pretty technical terrain but the views made it look all worth it. Getting your packs down below 30 pounds is impressive and I'm sure helped.

It certainly was, my feet sure felt it. 😄 But yes, the views were definitely worth it! Thanks!

Great video! When did you do this trip? Late April or Early May?
@IndyDog-ns8ws3 жыл бұрын
Hiked it in 1998 with my two brothers, but we did in in four night. Subscribed too.

Nice! Yeah, that would be a good pace. When I first did it in the mid-nineties, I think we did it in 6 days. A bit slow and with heavy packs. Ultralight definitely was not in the equation then! 😄 Awesome, thanks for your support!

I was thinking about a certain type of gloves, used over your socks, that might have kept your feet and lower legs dry for the creek crossing at 16:02, ha ha, if you know what I mean. (Think McCrae Lake near the Narrows and your gift, LOL. )

This looks like a great adventure! I have one question.. are the trails well marked or do you have to follow a topo map to guide yourself? I plan on doing this trip myself.
@ThePursuitofPassion Жыл бұрын
That's awesome Andrea! Highly recommended. The trails are pretty well marked. In the rocky sections you'll have to look for cairns, but otherwise pretty straightforward to follow. But definitely get a trail map from the patk office and get any trail updates before you head out from staff. Good luck!

Very nice video Thank you How do you find the kms between campsites and looking at the map but I can’t figure it out??? Please
@ThePursuitofPassion3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. There actually is no info about distance between campsites, in general. You have to calculate this based on the scale of the map you have. However, there was one map (that isn't available anymore) that did, called Jeff's map. Hope this helps!

Nice! Exactly what dates did you actually do this hike? I'd like to correlate your dates to the amount of snow (and water depth on steam crossings) you experienced. Thx.

Hi Wilf, it was May 3 to 5th 2019. Hope this helps! Planning to do it yourself?
@wilfn2 жыл бұрын
@@ThePursuitofPassion Yes, we just booked yesterday. Last year's was canceled, so we're hoping that doesn't happen again. We leave May 6, 2022. So based on your experience, it looks like we can expect some snowy spots and a number of swollen water crossings. Thanks again for the helpful video, and for responding!

Oh ... one other question: Bugs: Were there any? What kind(s)? Were they lazy or active?
@ThePursuitofPassion2 жыл бұрын
As to bugs, we didn't have any issue with them at all. But I would say, even though you are going in early May, there is one major factor we can't control, weather. So you could have more snow and deeper crossings, or it could be a dry year. Just be ready for anything. It's that time of year where it is really hard to predict until closer to the date. Awesome, good luck!

@@ThePursuitofPassion Did you have any problems with the GoPro 7? I am thinking to get one.
@ThePursuitofPassion4 жыл бұрын
Hi there. No, overall the GoPro 7 has been good to work with. (GoPro's often have some software glitch.) The audio is better and the stabilizer has improved a lot. If you want even better performance and don't mind spending more, go with the 8, although there are great deals on the 7 currently. Have fun!
