Excellent descriptive video. Thanks! I wish I'd seen this before calling a plumber who replaced the whole fixture for many $$$. But, if one has time, the key issue is de-liming (calcium, etc.) which can be done, as you say with CLR, but I've used strong vinegar for the same result (well, after a number of hours). One word of advice would be to use a LOT of silicone grease on all flexible parts like ALL the "0" rings once the metal parts are really smooth and clear of deposits. That's why plumbers are not really interested in the cleaning, so they'll just cut and replace the whole unit. Again, well-done for a full discussion!

I just completed my Delta faucet replacement following this excellent video. Very well done. My replacement had a few difficulties, the brass ring was calcified on and I had to use WD40 to break the calcification. The two rubber grommets with the spring was more challenging to replace. I used a phillip screwdriver to insert it. Just took more time than on the video. Finally, locating the screws for the cover plate was more difficult than on the video. In the end, I saved at least $150 doing it myself. Thanks.

BTW, Delta warrants their cartridges for life, call them and they will send you one at no cost. This is the 3rd cartridge I replaced where Delta gave it to me for free.

Not only did you save me a call to a plumber, but it turned out I didn't need any new parts, so you saved me $50.00 for a new cartridge! Thank you for you video

Delta faucets etc, are guaranteed for life! Just call them and be insistent. I have called many times and they have sent out repair kits each time. Once when the faucet had been discontinued they offered me a great deal on a NEW faucet, I said no and then he sent the new faucet for FREE. Yes free, they could not replace the parts so they had to send me a new one. Once when they gave me a hard time so I waited and called back a few weeks later and then another person gave me what I wanted. Just ask.

Thank you!!! has same one and video made it super easy to fix! Another Big tip! prepare for that brass bonnet nut to be seized, we had to run to Home Depot and got a Husky Strap Wrench for like 10 bucks, and it took that nut off no problem at all!! Great tool! Thanks again!

The best presentation on Replacement of Delta Faucet Tub Shower Valve Cartridge in the United States. The gentleman is amazingly patient, organized and professional (a kind of perfectionist) who slowly took us through every step explaining every details that may appear trifling to some but, he is immensely helpful... a model Presenter or maybe an Angel in disguise, I think !!! He is even better than the professional from Delta who explained the stuff "How To Replace a Delta Tub or Shower Cartridge" in another video here. I know I can't thank you enough...

This is a superb video set. Thank you very much for creating and posting. It was extremely useful - after viewing, I successfully replaced the cartridge and seals in my own Delta shower faucet, thus fixing a long-time leak.

rpyka1 thanks for watching. Did you see my note about setting the temperature stop? Have a nice day!
@rpyka17 жыл бұрын
This was the one note that surprised me in your video. You noted at 7:54 in Part 2 of your video set that the exact position doesn't matter, where in actuality it does. The position of the stop limit on the plastic insert (the thing you didn't have a name for - and I don't either) relative to the stop limit in the ON/OFF knob is what determines the maximum temperature. Increasing the distance between the two limit stops (counter-clockwise of the insert with respect to ON/OFF knob) will increase the maximum temperature. Unfortunately this position (too hot or not hot enough) is something that needs to be determined by trial and error. I feel this probably should have been explained a bit more in your video. In my case, the insert remained inside the large ON/OFF knob, so the re-clocking was not an issue. Otherwise everything in your videos was very concise and informative. Thanks again for posting. Have a great day too!

I've got a 1700 series cartridge that I thought needed changing and my luck the local hardware store didn't have one and it was to late to go anywhere else. Grasping I decided to change the washers leaked leaked... Desperation got me on the internet where I found your video with yep the same cartridge as mine (watched several that were a different series). After watching you explain how the washers with the springs went I realized I had installed mine incorrectly. Went back in reinstalled them correctly and put a little silicone grease on them and the other double washers that are connected together and no leaks. Luckily I didn't have to replace the cartridge... Thanks for taking the time to share the video.

Thank you for this! I feel so stupid - I was having trouble reconnecting the temperature dial to the handle after it came off (I kept trying to twist it back on). Didn't realize the top piece popped off to reveal the top of the screw.

I wasn't sure how to get the 'cap' off ... the manual says to 'snap' it into place, but wasn't sure if it simply 'snapped' back off or if you had to somehow press something, twist a certain way ... or whatever. I watched this - & then simply 'snapped' mine right off perfectly! thanks!

I would not recommend CLR be used to remove scale in your case. CLR has specific instructions to not be used on brass. The body of the faucet that holds the cartridge is made of brass. I would use white undiluted household vinegar instead.

Is it possible to change the cartridge I'd like a single handle that goes to hot and cold without the little knob in front. My teeth are completely stripped and needs replacing anyway was just wondering
@HH-yc7oz4 жыл бұрын
why is your "hot side" facing up? Isn't it supposed to face left per the installation guide? I'm having an argument with my contractor who installed it "hot side" up and my water won't run until the volume control is turned to the halfway point when looking at my trim plate.

i just replaced a cartridge on my shower faucet which is a 1700 series. I used a plier to remove the metal brass ring ( i think its also called a bonnet nut) because it was too tight. Now when I put the new cartridge in it doesn't snap in properly. so of course it keeps leaking and when you turn the handle, the cartridge also turns. Any suggestion? do you thing I damaged the threads on the metal ring by pulling it out forcefully ? .

Hi my plumber installed my new dual handle faucet. I cant turn the temp. adjust at all, Ive removed the cap and the screw and it wont turn that white cartridge nubbin at all. I dont want to force it, why wont it turn? (Im going away from the limit block dont worry)

Bad luck for me. The brass ring was stuck and even in an slow attempt to open it, the entire body twisted, and broke the pipe. Be careful in opening the cap.
