As someone who kinda finished with Star Wars after the prequels it was very enjoyable rewatching it with your perspective. Your view on Anakin was really interesting and something to think about. And the main thing about the prequels that I do agree with everybody on (and what I wished most movie franchises learned from) is that they do handle fan service beautifully! 👌

Luke definitely inherited Anakin's "But i wanna do what i wanna do!" whining though. While Leia's his more "Gonna be the one who gets shit done since nobody else is" side.

I saw Attack of the Clones in the theater when it came out, and everybody in the audience started clapping and cheering when Yoda started fighting Dooku! Patton Oswalt said that his brother described the senate scenes in this film as like watching "C-SPAN with monster masks", which kind of reflects my sentiments toward those scenes...

George Lucas has admitted himself he's not great with writing dialogue, especially romantic scenes. In the original trilogy he had his ex-wife on board who did a lot of the waiting and punching up the dialogue, here it's just him; hence the awkward scenes between Hayden and Natalie. That being said, Hayden has actually said I'm an interview that he studied the cadence of James Earl Jones's voice in the originals and tried to mimic it with the way he delivered a lot of his lines so that it made sense once he transitioned to being Vader. You can hear the similarity if you listen to him knowing that. He also was just doing the best he could with a lot of rough dialogue though 😅

When Vader discovered the droids were sold to Owen and Beru, he had them burned because he blamed them for his mother's death

It didn’t seem to me like an order from Vader, but rather SOP for the storm troopers. They were looking for these droids, but wanted to keep the exact nature of what they were doing secret. The two of them knew too much, and so were eliminated.

Decided to wait out for the second part, to watch in full. Will say this though. Many knock on acting of pretty much everyone in the film, but there are reasons they act like they do. Jedi are supposed to hide their emotions and act suppressed. Amidala is supposed to act professional and collected, breaking only with someone who she really cares about. Jango tries to keep cool and level head, as a professional mercenary should, and even then with Boba he shows glimpses of the 'cracking', because who you can be yourself other than 'yourself'? Dooku is putting on a facade of class and gentlemanly behavior, to try and manipulate others with wit and sarcasm, but does let his mask slip here and there. And Anakin... Reason why Jedi said he's too old, is because they pick children as toddlers, before they build understanding of the world around them, to indoctrinate them with Jedi way as a part of their outlook. Ani already was grown enough to not only have a picture of the world (somewhat grim, because of living in slavery for so long), but also attachments. "I don't like sand" is the reflection of that - metaphorical painful retrospect on the 'coarse' planet, 'rough' life, 'irritating' mindset of inability to escape... And by that point as a jedi crossing galaxy for some time - he sees it 'getting everywhere'. He can't escape it. Not only that, being not trained from the 'ground up' wouldn't be as simple for him either. He's told, strictly and constantly, to bottle his emotions, without teaching or, hell, explaining why. Him acting 'wooden and uneven' is exactly the point - he wants to show emotion, he's grown and is fuming with energy and possibilities, but has to keep himself in check, barely capable to do so. On the drive he was taught to hit hard stop on every obstacle (emotion), getting whiplash everytime, instead of being taught calmly side passing it without a hitch. Great tragedy of Anakin Skywalker is the Death of Qui-Gonn. If Jinn survived, he'd approach tutoring more lax, fatherly and gently, helping young protege to learn that 'a little rule breaking is okay for the greater good'. But I feel Obi, distraught at the death of Jinn, seeing how his rebellious attitude is what got him killed, decided to be more strict with Anakin, resulting in telling him to bottle up.

@@ShreeNation Glad I could be of help. After seeing your reaction, I'd like to add a point about clones. Clones in the 2-3 are exactly that - clones. But, as... Mmm... Things changed, clones became something of a liabillity. With time they were phased out by stormtroopers - professional contract army, signing up for good pay and benefits (there were still 'regular' conscripts in places in Empire). In fact in the EU there was a raid on Kamino to destroy cloning facility of the soldier clones. And clone armor looks that way, because it's, more or less, a 'simpler, cheaper' mandalorian type of armor.

17:22 "Is Obi-Wan's, like, Force _weaker_ than Anakin's? He doesn't _use_ it, that much." Experience has taught him that there are times when the Force is _tempting_ but not _necessary._ Although, yes, technically, _no_ one's Force is as strong as Anakin's. Not even Yoda's. That's what the Midi-chlorian count in Episode I indicated.

Darth is a title given to the Sith. In the old days, when there were just as many Sith as there were Jedi there were Acolytes, Aprprentices, Lords, Darths and then there was the Dark Council and finally the Sith Emperor.

Star Wars kinda has this generational thing where if you grew up with it in a certain era, you like or reject certain parts of it. I grew up with the orginal 3 (first one came out basically when i was born).. so those are the ones i stick with. The hype for Episoide one was inescapable in 1998-99... so much so then once i saw it, i convinced myself i liked it for a week 😂 then i started to think about it... i wanted to be proven wrong with E2. But.. it still still had a lot of the same problems and not even Sonic The Yoda-hog couldnt fix it. Personally I think it comes down to this: the original trilogy was a collaboration. George didnt have absolute power on it.. he had to compromise.. listen to others.. work with producers, editors, FX artists... he had change the script sometimes, and the 1st film ended up being entirely reedited after a terrible test screening.. and on Empire, the best film, he handed the reigns entirely to others to write and produce it. On the prequel trilogy, Lucas was a billionaire with a licensing empire and he had total control of these films... no one could tell him no, or that something was a bad idea, or if something didnt work. So they feel... off. Theres a human element lacking that the first 3 films had. But thats just my opinion.. i know orhers love em... and thats fine.

At first the stormtroopers were clones but the clones are easy to manipulate so the emperor cut them off and replaced them relatively fast over a few years, with a variety of soldiers. Some of them were willing recruits, that genuinely thought they wanted to defend that system or the better life traveling and fighting through the galaxy. Others, were kidnapped as children and brainwashed to work for the empire. Some clones kept fighting with the Empire to the very end.

Anakin hasn’t gone full Vader yet, the death of his mother was just the beginning signs of it, He’s still a Jedi Padawan rightnow, Light Side user. But you’ll see what happens to him in Ep 3 which I can’t say because of Spoilers. And as for the Clone Troopers, I’m not too sure what happened, they explain more of their story in the Animation Series, Clone Wars , The Bad Batch and Rebels, but from what I can tell, they were used for the Clone Wars but then The Emperor got rid of them and replaced them with Storm Troopers, regular people recruited by the Empire because the clones were aging rapidly and other things that I can’t say because it Spoils Episode 3 and I don’t want to spoil it for you Shree till after you watch it. ❤

Droids vs clones is so ironic 😅 The use of droids to make the Jedi seem less murderous inadvertently makes them seem like monsters for casually accepting an army of living clones to fight and die for them 😬 The entire premise of The Clone Wars paints the Jedi as callous bastards, throwing clones (that take time to grow and train, and are also, y'know, people) against an endless supply of droids.

Yoda's size is both an advantage and disadvantage. It makes him hard to duel, but as you will see later, being that small and light has a disadvantage, in another duel with Dooku it leads to Yoda's only earned loss in a duel. And Yoda's colleague of the same species also had issues due to her size while dueling Dooku.

24:20 Why? He's like the most overhyped character around. Stands around in Empire Strikes Back and has one or two lines. In Return of the Jedi he stands around, fires few shots and dies by falling itno the Sarlacc pit after getting hit by blind Han Solo. But somehow fans for decades have been making fanfics of how we survired cause "he's so badss". And now, in Disney Star Wars, he does even less. 26:24 Yeah, everyone memes at this shot of Christopher Lee in front of a green screen on Scooty-Puff Jr. looking confused. 29:04 I mean, we knew Darth Vader had a robot arm. 31:51 Imperial March.

By that comparison, Saul Goodman should've been a lame MC because he said a few lines in Breaking Bad and couldn't even stand up to Walter's bullying tactics. My perspective on Boba Fett comes from The Mandalorian where, as a first time viewer, the Mandalorian lore was engaging to watch. Fans who came before would have a different perspective on Fett and I totally understand. I also didn't know Vader had a robot arm.

This was the worst of the prequels for me. The Annie/ Padme stuff really brings it down, and it doesn't help that I feel no sympathy for either of them. Annie had an ego from the get go and was too easy to manipulate that way. Padme had her chance but quickly forgot about his massacre of the Tuskens, and was good marrying him (knowing that was not allowed, but then neither is killing innocents either). Only thing that kept me going through it was Obi Wan playing Jedi Detective, and always reminding Annie he was not as good as he thought he was.
