If you click "SHOW MORE" in the description above your be able to see Links to the Tools 🔧🔨🔧 I use. Also Clickable Chapters📋 📙 throughout the video and other Links 🎬 that may be of interest. I've had a few viewers request where they can buy the tools they see in some of my videos but it's not very clear that the "SHOW MORE" tab has a lot of information in that may be of interest. Admittedly the amazon links are associated with me and I would earn a small commission which helps towards keeping the channel funded.

I'm going to put my k24a2 head back on with the surface finish that was left after I had the head resurfaced. I went over the block deck surface with 150 grit sand paper by hand with sand paper only. My head still has some warpage but my machine shop says it's fine...I asked about copper gasket spray and he said he always uses it. This is coming from a shop that has been around since the 80's. I'm going to to try the copper spray and hope there's no leaks but I realize my head surface is not exactly up to manufacture's repair spec's so it might not grab. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

@@CoatsandGaiters Permatex* "Cooper Spray-A-Gasket" its called. I'm hearing it was popular with composite gaskets back in the days but it's not needed with newer design of mls gasket. But I'm still going to try it and see what happens.

Hopefully after you've watched all 10 your be able to do it pretty quickly. Don't forget to check the head is flat. I made an episode on how I flatted mine with sandpaper and it worked a treat. Good luck.... oh and let me know how you get on with that crankshaft pulley nut. It gave me a ton a trouble as your see in my Part 3 video.

Great video. Do you have a background in teaching as very clear and concise? Great filming of what you are doing which must have greatly increased the time it took you to do the job. Don't understand why manufacturers don't give head bolt torquing in lbs/ft rather than 240 degrees or 90 degrees turns. Peugeot is the same for the 106. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for such a nice comment. I have a background in class disruption when I was 13 lol I was always acting the fool which backfired on me as I really wish I had gained an education. I think an angle turn is more accurate and eliminates errors as 90° is 90° whereas a torque wrench can be affected by external conditions more, like lubrication, rough threads etc.

Hello I am indebted to you for your series on the head removal and replacement on the Honda crv. I have a quandary in that my timing chain has 5 not 3 blue side plates. And with the isolated single plate sitting centrally on the B punchmark on the crankshaft gear. The other two pairs of blue side plates want to sit either side of the top dead centre punch marks rather than directly over each of the punch marks, as shown in your video, and also shown in the workshop manual. Have you ever come across this before? My motor is the K24. And it was built in 2005. I am resident in Australia. Who should I approach about this issue for clarification? Once again thank you so much for your excellent video series. Russell Hanna

Mark (@CoatsandGaiters) this is an excellent series and very helpful, thank you. In part 4 you show the removal of the camshafts and followers, and in part 7, that array is all together with zip ties prior to you putting it back onto the head. Is there a video where you show that intermediate step of assembling those camshaft related components? I assume it would be fine to simply replace the Follower Assembly, then Camshafts, then Bearing Caps in reverse of the disassembly sequence in part 4.

@@CoatsandGaiters Thanks Mark - I was looking for the part where you zip tie the camshafts to the caps and followers. You have eight of those (I believe) in the reassembly video in part 7. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e9eqq9Ry15mXo6M.html&lc=Ugz5VCbCpJnVUPDqCr54AaABAg.9wrYCGk8tSE9wrb-eJvXFC

I may not have recorded that bit but I think I just cable tied the cable tied followers up to the cam so they didn't get in the way of lowering the assembly otherwise I would be trying to lift them all up while trying to seat the assembly. @@mattcraig1193

Excellent thanks Mark (@@CoatsandGaiters ) - I tried that and it worked well (except for a small glitch of getting one zip tie a little stuck between an exhaust follower and a spark plug tube after I got it seated). A little wriggling and pliers got it loose. Thanks again for this very helpful and informative series.

So what was the cause of head gasket failure and did you have the cylinder head skimmed?
@CoatsandGaiters

Matt Ducker I bought it with the head gasket already failed. I think the radiator had a leak and wasn’t checked. I skimmed the head in this series using a large stone slab and sand paper.
