I was in the ER yesterday with a nerve injury in my head, I'm seeing double, and my husband was forced to attend one of those stupid conferences. It was busy and we were waiting on a CT to be available.. but it's just crazy. I bascially attended the hour long meeting with him. Companies need to calm down. Those meetings are mainly to make the uppers look like they have enough stuff to do to be worth the pay.

I remember one video meeting, boss all smug to get people on their time off for the meeting, stealing wages away while his boss looked on - at one team member sitting in a hospital bed, fully garnished with pretty much every tube modern medicine has to offer, as he had surgery that day and the meeting was mandatory, no excuses allowed. Boss didn't last very long, as all were giving him the stink eye and big boss told the employee that was post-operative that he was excused.

Maybe it's in the handbook, but my office is lucky that isn't a standard practice for us. On my 3rd day (a Wednesday...), they held a happy hour in the building to welcome the new hires (I was one of a group). My boss's boss's boss came up to me, introduced himself, and then asked me why I didn't have a drink. I replied "oh, I already had two, and it *is* a school night." Him: "If you can't do this job hungover, why did we hire you?" I have since described my office as a drinking place with a working problem...

My wife works at a place that brings in interns from (local college of relevant industry). There's an intern finishing his rotation this week; he has been banished from every department in the company, ending up reluctantly tolerated in the shipping department, but kept on a very short leash there to keep him from screwing up shipping too badly. Word through the grapevine is, another local employer kicked him out of the building entirely, failing his internship, for screwing up everything he touched and being completely un-teachable. He is at least as oblivious as Jeremy - he told someone yesterday that he expects to be offered a full-time position at this employer the same day he finishes his internship. I worked from home full-time before it was a thing, and let my hair grow long for a couple years, "ponytail halfway down my back" kind of long. I went to the office for a few days - hair clean and combed and pulled neatly back in a tight ponytail - and got called on the carpet; they said it was a violation of policy and I had to get it cut. I politely asked them to show me the policy that addressed the length of hair - men's OR women's. They couldn't find it right away, and said they'd get back to me on that. They never did, because there wasn't one. 😂

I’ve got to say your acting is amazing . Part of my Brian knows you are playing all the characters but the other part is convinced they are individual people and it’s throwing me 😂

Yup. I worked nights for YEARS at a nursing home. Those "mandatory meetings" they loved to have at 1pm... Never went to any. When they confronted me about it, i told them the same thing. "When you schedule them while I'm at work, I'll go". They started doing special night shift meetings for us.

As a night shift maintenance man, I broke into the HR office through the ceiling and cleared my file of all write ups. Came in handy when they tried to fire me the next week. The Japanese management suspected what I had done but they were so amused that they let it go....they loved watching the stupid Americans fight among each other....

I got an email once from a VP where I worked complaining about an outage that was going on. I explained that I'd already done everything I could do from my end and we were waiting for the vendor to finish their analysis, which should be within the hour. He then explained to me that this was a "career ending moment" if it isn't handled to his satisfaction. I replied back with, not for me it isn't. We got along just great after that for the next 6 years of working there. LOL
