I went on the 30th and won the pot with a 6 lb mangrove. Wife first time deep sea fishing and caught a shark. Very fun use to take the thunderstar out of Shem creek back in the days. Headboats are fun.

Yea, I’ve been seeing their posts! Hopefully I can make it out soon. 8/10 trips were canceled due to weather earlier this year, lol.

@@theanglercrew7059 yeah I was watching the weather way a head of booking a trip and even tho the mate said 4 days before that trip the water was way better I was able to catch 4 keepers mangrove 6 lanes and 1 graysby grouper.

What kind of rig were you using to catch the king mackerel? I'm going down there in about a month and this charter seems to be the best in that area! If I'm using their gear would you recommend any rigs or artificial lures?

I was using frozen sardines for bait I think (It’s been a while). I was only using squid, sardines, and cut grunt as bait.

What combo did you use? Line? I'm going for my birthday and want to bring my own combo

On this trip, I used an 8’ Phenix and Penn Fathom II lever drag as one of my setups. I use 50 lb braid and 50 lb leader. You’ll see regulars using lighter line/leader though. I’ve been itching to get out there again but it keeps getting canceled (About 10 times this year) and other times I’m busy with work. Tight lines and good luck!!
