Last minute trip turned out to be a good move. The fish gods tried their best to wear us down with savage dogfish and picky flukes but once we caught stride it was easy fishing. Good enough we boat limited with time to run inshore and stop for Seabass. That inshore seabass bite was hot just not much to keep. Picked through lots of short seabass to find a couple of legal size and even some fluke and blues came up.

Nice job adjusting to the fish's preference. Good to see Matt and Mr. Lee. Who is the femaie mate? She's new to me. We don't see the whole fight for each fish but it seemed you were reeling in quicker in the early part; might have been a factor in dropping fish. The tangles are a hassle and the boat wasn't even that busy. how long was the commute back to the Bourne? Thats a big reason I don't go down to the Cape as much anymore.. I've got my sights on the Klondike, what's your experience with them? Ciao

Did you make any special adjustments on the spool tension knob of your LEXA bait caster to handle the 16 oz or was it just thumbing the spool the entire time?

Just thumbed the spool, no adjustments. I usually use 8-12oz anyway so not much different

So once you get your limit you can just catch more and then give them to the people who aren’t doing as well? How does it work if you catch a big one, you give them one of your smaller keepers?

No nets. I understand it… don’t know if you’ve ever had to pull a chicken rig out of a net, it’s quite the process… 40 fares, 5 fluke per man, that’s 200 times you’d have to untangle the net. Average of 1 minute per untangle, that’s over 3 hours of picking rigs out of nets… mates don’t have time like that. Granted in reality they only need to net 1 in 10 fish, like the ones over 5lbs, but the customers expect everything to be netted. There’d be a lot more broken rods if they were all trying to swing their fluke. It’s a successful business model I mean the Helen h is sold out most fluke trips. Not many party boats compare.

What an awful way to fish. I'd rather not go than mess about with so many anglers in a ridiculously hugh freeboard boat. YUK!
