Your GSXR 1000 fork seal replacement starts with the parts: bit.ly/GSXR-fork-seal-replacem...
Learn how to change the fork seals in a Suzuki GSXR 1000 motorcycle. We found a leak in our fork seals when we saw residue under the front fender and on one of the legs of the fork. John shows you how to remove the fork from our Suzuki GSXR, then disassemble the legs of the fork. Next, we’ll replace the fork seals on our GSXR with new parts from Suzuki. Then, the process shifts back to reassembling the legs of the fork and setting the fluid level in the legs. When we get the legs put back together, John shows you how to reinstall the fork on the GSXR.
Read how to do this step by step: www.partzilla.com/blog/suzuki...

i did this on my 06 hayabusa and it was easier than I expected. And I made the tools I needed. Used a wood jog in a bench vise with a car jack to compress it. worked good enough. sketchy but the budget minded might like it. It was a new bike after. Gonna do the same to some 2006 GSXR 1000 forks I just bought for a conversion on an SV. This is a good video covering the steps!

Thank you Partzilla and John Talley, the video was great and really helped me a lot, i just finished doing the seals on my k7 1000 and all went well, replacing the seals themselves was the easy bit, the hardest part was getting the forks off the bike as i had to remove the top fairing, was a great leaning experience though and something i wanted to learn so thank you again for the helpful video Will we be seeing any more videos about the gsxr 1000?

Just got done with the job. Wow, way better response. I had them done when I first got the bike by some shop. The oil they used was way too heavy and the levels were off. Your far better spending the time to do yourself. I used maxima 5 weight oil Closest to Lo1 Suzuki oil Good luck all. It's kind of a big job and very time consuming if your a good job kind of guy like myself. I know many that ride. Mostly Harleys and none of them actually maintain there bikes like there supposed to. This was worth the time, money and effort. Get the OEM kit. That's the best out there

For those having issues removing and installing the lower triple clamp bolts, the easiest way I found was to use a 1/4 to H6 bit (not a 1/4 socket to hex as it's too long, its a specific bit you can find in a few kits.) that I found in my gearwrench kit (80944), then use a 1/4 ratcheting straight or flex box end wrench on the bit to remove and install the bolts (you can find this bit in other kits, harbor freight sells one). There's not really enough clearance to use anything else unless you want to remove the air ducts. No you're not going to be able to torque it to spec unless you want to remove the fairing and air ducts. Just get it nice and tight. Also at 7:30 I found it way easier to use a seal driver (if you have one) or a right sized socket to gently tap the seal into place then slide in the inner. No need for the special tool. Speaking of special tools, I bought the fork service tool kit for inverted forks by traxxion dynamics on amazon for $70 bucks and everything performed well, no need to spend over $400 on the factory tools. You still need a vise that's attached to the edge of a bench and a ratchet strap. And yes you're basically going to have to ALMOST fully ratchet down the spring to pull up the rod and insert the holder at 4:25, yes there's a lot of tension. Other than that great tutorial, thanks!

Thanks for the excellent video. After watching it, I tried the job on my 07 GSXR1000 and ran into one problem that didn't seem to cause you any trouble. With the spring compressor bottomed out on the outer fork tube, I had some trouble getting the damper rod pulled up far enough to get the retainer under the locknut. I had to pull up on the cap and rod with a fair amount of force to get clearance. I had an even harder time in assembly because I used a "universal" rod holder and had to screw the locknut further down on the shaft to get enough thread for the rod holder. I really had to lift up with considerable force on the rod to get clearance under the nut. Question: did you have to remove the air ducts to get a socket wrench to your lower triple clamp bolts? Thanks again for the excellent video.

@@Mr.Studer Its a guesstimate, there will always be oil in the catridge so its important to get as much residual oil out and then refill to lower amount than what is mentioned in the manual. Plenty of writeups on how this is done online.

I had to buy a new (used) throttle body for a 600-750 engine swap. It was super dirty, but I removed the electronics and ultrasonic cleaned the throttle body and the fuel rails. After that, fuel cleaner should definitely be fine enough for injectors, though I admit this is a little extra. Fuel injector cleaners from motion pro are $180 for those who want to go the extra mile!

NOBODY ever explains how you align the rotation of each fork so that is square and pointed straight ahead. Everybody bolts in on from the top of the triple tree and the forks miraculously line up perfectly straight and then the axle and wheel go right in smoothly. Do you make index marks on the fork to establish a baseline alignment? Or do you have a fixture that squares up the fork alignment? If it is crooked, there will be torsional forces on the fork, axle and wheels and the bike does not ride straight.
@deanmsimpson
@deanmsimpson 2 жыл бұрын
The fork is made up of two round tubes essentially. They rotate freely essentially, other than some resistance from the spring, seals, bushings, etc. Therefore the fork bottoms essentially are self aligning when you assembly your front wheel and mudguard (fender) 👍
