Here’s a new one. We see a lot of ATVs, UTVs, and motorcycles that won’t start, but what happens when your ATV won’t turn off? We’ve already done a deep dive into the starting system on our Yamaha YFM700 Grizzly, and during our work we realized that the unit would not shut down completely and the battery kept getting drained.
John will show you how to inspect the ECU for water intrusion and look around on the wiring harnesses for another possibly culprit: exposed wires that close a new circuit. On our unit, that was the case and we’ll show you how to replace the ignition switch on your Yamaha Grizzly.

If I figure it out I will let you know what the problem is also. There isn’t much on ignition switches being backwards anywhere on the internet. Some one needs to make a video lol

Hi John. I have a 1989 Grizzly with the same problem, but it also won't start as well. Could the switch be causing this issue as well.

I have a 2020 model Kodiak 450. It starts and runs, but it won’t turn off. But not always, sometimes it will. But if it doesn’t, you have to disconnect the battery for it to actually fully stop. Any ideas?

I have a honda rancher 350 04 model. And it's doing the same thing. I changed the switch and it's still does it . so I guess my question is do I need to check my wire's

I also have a 2007 Grizzly 700 my problem is the Dash has a flashing es and will not shut off even with the key which kills the battery if I unplug the dash cluster the ATV will start the next day any ideas on what this is

i believe that was the power steering control unit not that regulator/rectifier

You are not wrong. It wasn't the focus of the video, so it was the first thing to pop to mind when seeing the cooling fins.

My 660 starter won't stop cranking. I disconnected battery. Any ideas?

My 07 yfz450 key switch is backwards, when the key is off the neutral light is on and when the key is on everything shuts off????? The guy I got it from has a brand new ignition switch for it but when I plug it in it does not work at all? Any idea? Maybe the ignition he bought is an aftermarket and maybe I need to buy the OEM? And the bike runs like garbage. It’ll start fine and randomly die. Can’t even ride it. Hellllp

A good amount of the aftermarket ignition switches are wired incorrectly. I just bought an aftermarket switch for my 06 wolverine and verified with a multimeter that it is wired wrong. Half the components are on when the switch is off, and it changes to the other half when turned off. I'll be ordering an OEM switch from Partzilla.]

I just added a damn chinese key switch to my Bayou 300 cause my kids lost my keys... The damn key switch will not kill the engine, only the kill switch ! Then when that's done the key switch will kill the lights !

My problem is it will turn over and start fine and the switches are good ik that for a fact. But it wont shut off. It did it one second then stopped. Then a few mins later it shut off when i switched it off. Its confusing lol

And when i turn the switch and key off. It does shut off the power to it but still wont turn off. Its wierd

Trace the wires, check the plugs for water. If it's intermittent, it's usually one of those things vs a switch.
