I have seen a really similar issue in the past with a Golf. This is my understanding of how this sensor initialisation works and maybe what happened, in case this helps anyone On these cars the steering angle sensor (G85) settings can be lost when the battery is disconnected. It re-initialises by itself when it knows the car is travelling in a straight line. Or when you go through the basic setting procedure (in my experience, doing the basic setting is actually not necessary as long as the rest of the system is working OK... see below) How does the module know the car travels in a straight line? It looks at the ABS wheel speed sensors. When the car is moving slowly and ALL 4x ABS wheel sensors show exactly the same speed, the car assumes it must be moving in a straight line and will then init the steering angle sensor zero position. It seems the cars have more accurate readings from the wheel speed sensors internal to the module than what you see through live data - this makes sense if you think about ABS etc, the ABS module must have very fast/accurate readings for the wheel speeds for the ABS to work effectively. If there is any fault with a wheel speed sensor, giving inaccurate speed reading, it will think the car is not moving straight and will not initialise the steering angle sensor. Usually problems with wheel speed sensors will trigger a fault (as in video - stored fault) however it is so sensitive that faulty wheel speed sensors may NOT trigger a fault code straight away or even at all but still prevent initialising the steering angle sensor! To check if this you can drive the car slowly (

Holy s**t how do some garages get away with this. Can't fix it "oh that's ok we just get rid of it and customer will never know" Garages like that should be shut down and the owners put into a big hole in the ground. I have to admit it did make me laugh at the stupidly of some people thinking they can get away with it. With social media being so big now, I hope the owner of the car gave them a really sh*t review and actually told the rest of us what they did.....Well done sir for another great video....

Parking brake fault might just be the switch... they're known to go bad sometimes and throw up random/intermittent faults, happened to me on my old B6 Passat. The EPB motors are a problem on the B6's too... the plastic housing cracks around the back of the caliper and lets in road dirt & grime and rusts out the spline drive. Mine stranded me a couple of times like that before I ended up replacing both calipers lol

Luis, where are you based? I have a 2010 Skoda Superb with electrical gremlins that suit your skillset. Cruise not working, radio turns itself up going around corners, intermittent wipers go full speed on lowest setting, dash lighting rheostat not working. I believe it's a comfort module issue but that's as far as my knowledge extends.

my sister in law has a ford edge 2016 has adaptive steering fault been in dealership 11 weeks has had 4 NEW steering wheel assy tried each one either another fault or wont program to car dealership brought in ford top technical they have tried repeatedly but cant program it to car but one taken from another car works ok now waiting to see what ford uk come up with.... in america they had recall in around 2017 as steering wheel assy went into various fault modes she bought hers in uk from new when she noticed steering very light it had no errors on display but after investigation seemed just stuck into parking mode so steering very responsive and dangerous its beyond a joke when the car manufacturer cant fix its own vehicles the cars ony done 28000 miles ....my idea is that theve either changed the pcb circuit and memory locations dont match to the latest program or they are trying to load the program to a chip that has no bootloader on it so is just dumb and unresponsive either way they havnt a clue and ford UK have no idea one has to ask how many others are driving around with a fault that dosent register on the fault display and have dangerous steering a five year old car that now seems to be unfixable by its own manufacturer....you could not make this up unbelievable and ford are very unhelpfull initally they were asking £1200 for the repair theve now dropped that but still dont have an answer have you had any dealings with ford adaptive steering?
@LMAutoRepairs
@LMAutoRepairs 2 жыл бұрын
Hi No, don't think I never came across one of those... That said, yes, a bit strange that even the manufacturer is struggling to get the issue fixed... I would say, a new module, that might comes with a newer software version, would require the other modules on the car to be updated to the latest one available, in order to properly recognise and talk to the new steering module... But, I sure ford would have done that anyway... 🤷‍♂️ Thank you for watching and for your comment! 👍👍👍

Hold on. You tell your viewers "If you don't know what you are doing, leave it for those that do.." or something like that. But then you have to call VW to figure out what you're doing, as you don't even know where the steering angle sensor is supposed to be. You even broke apart the steering control module, handled it without proper electrostatic protection while putting your fingers all over a board with CMOS components. Mmmmmmmm....
