WHOA! This opened a whole world for me! I see these “he, han” all the time and never knew what it was, thank goodness for this video and thanks for not making it 45 minutes!

Wow! What could be simpler? Remember two endings and one easy conjugation - he, he, has, has, ha, ha etc. Great tip, very do-able. I believe that what you call a language learning 'hack', verdad?

Love the "he caminado" shortcut for the start of learning Spanish when conjugations are overwhelming. This is even more straightforward in the case of "voy a" for future tense!

For sure! It's all about learning enough to get momentum, then learning as you go.

Very interesting. I’m only a year into my Spanish, and I will certainly use this. I know I will be able to speak with others easier as I find the preterit tense difficult. I just found your channel last week. Thanks for your help.
@BreakthroughSpanish2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment, Phyllis! I'm glad to hear you found it helpful. You'll get the hang of the preterite eventually (start with practicing the first person for a few key verbs). But in the meantime, this can help you get your ideas across

No tenía un problema con estos consejos cuando empezé estudiar el idioma a causa que hacía más de 40 años desde había aprendido hablar el francés ... Me di cuenta que podía engañar con haber + los participios pasados bastante rapido (exactamente como el francés) - mi problema ahorita es que sigo hacerlo "naturalemente" aun que yo sé que sea mejor de usar el preterito o el imperfecto. Y puedo decir que disfruto mucho hacer los verbos en español...
@BreakthroughSpanish Жыл бұрын
que bueno que te guste aprender los verbos en español, eso te va a servir sin duda. No me sorprende que la forma de conjugar en francés te tiene un poco confundido. Es útil saber idiomas parecidos, pero también complica

Muchisimos gracias, Connor. La próxima semana VOY A VIAJAR a España CONOCER a mi esposa y CAMINAR el Camino Francés. VOY A USAR tus CONSEJOS (tips?). Please excuse my beginner level Español, but I hope it illustrates that what I have just learnt from your 'tenses' videos is easily understood and, hopefully, useful in a practical sense/scenarios.
@BreakthroughSpanish2 жыл бұрын
great work! nothing wrong with being a beginner, you're doing great. Two tips here would be, 'muchísimas* gracias' with an a, and "voy a viajar a España para encontrarme con mi esposa" (you need 'para' in there, and conocer meets to meet, but more for the first time, so I assume you mean "meet up with", which is better expressed by "encontrarse con xyz")

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say Yo había comido for expressing past tense of I ate?
@BreakthroughSpanish2 жыл бұрын
había comido = I had eaten he comido = I have eaten. This structure is used fairly often in Spain to say "I ate", but in Latin America it's generally most accurate to say "yo comí" (but that was outside the scope of this video). Using Haber + past participle is definitely not a substitute for learning how to use the other past tenses, but it's a nice way to just start expressing yourself without getting so hung up on conjugations that you avoid all topics related to the past

@@BreakthroughSpanishThanks! If I say Ayer, yo he caminado por el parque. I would be understood to say Yesterday I walked through the park.
