A brilliant new way to work the Chinese Waitress Cast On! A simpler, more elegant way to work this cast-on, especially conducive to Continental knitters, but accessible to all.

Thank you for sharing, your knowledge, and especially for being honest, and giving credit to whom, it belongs. That shows your moral character, and this are the small details, which show the quality of a person. These are the details, that brings back to me, faith in humanity. Thank you. English is not my first language, so please excuse any grammar mistakes.

Thank you so much for this video! I found your original and then this updated one years ago. I only knit in the cooler months as I live in a hot climate. And by the next fall, I have forgotten how to do this cast on. 🤣 So I refer back to it yearly.

I have been knitting all my life and have never come across this cast on which is brilliant. And this method is by far the best. Thank you so much for an excellent demonstration of a lovely cast on which creates a superb edge. I know I will use it a lot.

This video was so helpful!! I originally looked up how to work this cast on with just knitting needles but when I saw it could be done with a crochet hook as well, I was ecstatic! I also adore how you've given credit too! I'm sure she appreciates it :) Thank you so much for sharing!

Fabulous! I'm about to tackle a ruffle-start-from-cast-on beanie with over 300 stitches. I was losing heart in using this beautiful cast-on when I watched a video using only knitting needles; now I'm thinking it will be one of the most enjoyable cast-ons to use.

Hi Mimi, thank you for sharing this method of working the Chinese Waitress Cast On. I'm a Continental knitter, so I could not get the hang of doing this cast on with the original method. I found a tutorial for left-hand knitter that I was able to learn, but it takes for ever. This method is so much easier and faster. 👍😁

This makes a beautiful, braided cast on with super bulky yarn; icord-like. I see I'm again late to the party, but wished to thank you for posting these helpful CW cast on/bind off videos. Practicing the cast off for when i finish my shawl!

Huh!! I've been using the older version of the CWCO with a hook and have gotten quite quick at it. I find that I really appreciate how lovely and evenly spaced my sts are on the needles since every stitch is spaced by the width of my hook. I see nothing wrong with the newer version, but I'mma gonna hafta try it for myself! I will share your newer version on FB, tho. Quite clever!!

This is a great cast on! I wonder if you do requests? I see you have one color brioche tutorial. I'm hoping you may do a two color brioche in the round tutorial (in continental). Love your videos.

It’s so funny that you should ask, Lee! I’ve recently been teaching a two color brioche cowl class. I will definitely make a video in the near future. Thanks so much!

I will try it, but I have to throw the yarn with my right hand. So I don't know. We'll see what happens.

Hey, I'm about to start a cardigan for myself which starts with 10 rows of garter stitch. I love the look of the Chinese Waitress Cast On and have used it for 5 baby blankets so far (they also started with a garter stitch boarder). Would you recommend I use it for the band of my cardigan? I'm worried that it won't have enough stretch over my hips.
@pasticheknitwear2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Carol! I would absolutely recommend using the Chinese Waitress Cast On for your cardigan. It is a very stretchy cast on, as well as being beautiful. Happy knitting!

Same question. Why would we use this type pf cast on, on what project? Thanks!
@mizztab36773 жыл бұрын
@@evelynt.5479 It gives a nice edge on both sides of the work. It is great for things like scarves or shawls where the edges show. Also there is a matching cast off.
