Pastor Quits Church to Help Homeless!

We all called to serve the poor. Bryan Fellers took this seriously, quit his job as a senior pastor and went to work at Hope Faith Ministries with the homeless in Kansas City, Missouri. Bryan shares how churches can help the homeless.
Is your church helping the homeless? Are they focused on serving the widows and orphans, the oppressed and the poor? 1 John 3: 16 -18 says: 16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

When the world turns their back on you because your poor? It does make you feel worthless.. I fully understand how she felt! Thank God for all of you who gave help!

That was me hanging the the clothes. I'm in San Diego Ca. now. Just got my own apt in the heart of the city.

That's so sad, what that lady said! But what do you expect when they're made to feel like they're subhuman for the "crime" of being homeless. We treat stray animals better (and it's good we care for them) than we do our own fellow humans - especially the "least of these" that Jesus talked about! I have to add God bless this man!

I am not Christian, and am generally pretty critical of the actions of churches. That said, that man is probably speaking the most Christ-centered words I've ever heard. While I'm not Christian, I still feel we could learn from the wisdom. Thanks for sharing.

James 1:27. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

sometimes we need to be in Church cause people go to Church to hear the word of God and sometimes we need to go outside and help people in the streets or anywhere and share the Gospel, there's a time for everything, it should be balanced

You are not supposed to go to church, you are supposed to be the church. The greek "ekklesia" is not a place, it's an assembly of people. The ekklesia of Jesus is the body/assembly of believers, more accurately: the body/assembly of His followers. The Most High does not dwell in something made by hands ( Acts 7,48). The Father is to be worshipped in spirit and in truth. Much is false with traditional "christianity". May the grace of the Lord be with you.
