Thanks for commenting. Super happy when a review serves its purpose and gives an honest opinion. In this case mine. It’s all about sharing experiences.

Thanks for the video! Glad to know it pills and isn't as low-maintenance as one may expect

Hi, At the $100+ price point it’s unexpected, but they clearly mention it on their website. Overall it’s a great jacket, but not as perfect as many would want us to think. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I agree with the sizing I’m normally an extra large, but a large is perfect

You mentioned alternatives, that there are other fleeces for the same price and don't have the negative sides of Patagonia, what would they be?

Hi, There are definitely small and large competitors. Keep in mind I’m only naming a few that I’ve purchased, there are numerous. Public Rec, Outdoor Research, Triple Aught, REI has an in-house brand. Thanks for watching and commenting. Definitely consider subscribing 😀

i'm probably going to get the vest version of this jacket. i don't mind the pilling so much, in fact i think it might help get rid of the "tech douche" or "finance douche" image that patagonia has unfortunately become associated with in recent years, leading to it being called "patagucci". i don't think a fabric exists that can avoid pilling, all will pill, sooner or later. it helps that i am not too fussed about it.

Thanks for watching and commenting. The only “negative” comment I have about the jacket is the pilling. During the colder months I wear it almost daily. It’s warm, breathable, light weight, and all the pockets are in the right place with the right size. Because I use it so much and stuff big heavy things in the pockets, it’s stretched a bit. Which I’d expect from any knitted garment. Despite all that, if I had to choose one jacket as a staple in my closet during the winter. This would be it. Good luck.

Guys, every fabric will pill i don’t get what people don’t understand, it’s from friction, *it’s unavoidable*, doesn’t matter what the fabric is. it’s also super easy and fast to remove, not to mention satisfying. Also, dry cleaning is unnecessary and a waste of money it’s polyester, just wash it normally.

Thanks for watching and commenting. I love the jacket, but hate the pilling. Please leave a comment with an easy removal remedy. If it works I’ll make another video. Thanks Again

@@radioflashinfo you can get pill shavers which remove the little "pills" of fabric that stick up. google "fabric shaver" or "pill shaver" and you should get a good result, it basically works the same way as a foil shaver does on your facial hair but the fabric shavers have bigger holes.

Piling can be a lottery. Just because you paid for a premium product unfortunately doesn’t always mean that you won’t have any problems in the future. I know some arcteryx fleece owners that have the same problem in less time and those fleeces are in excess of $150. I’ve a 12 year old $55 TNF glacier fleece that doesn’t pill. A garment technologist or someone involved in th manufacturing of fleeces could probably explain why a cheap fleece from Amazon, Costco etc doesn’t always pill and a top of the line isn’t guaranteed not to pill.

Great comment. Super informative. Overall, it’s a super warm jacket and wears well. It’s just the piling that irritates me. To Patagonia’s credit, they mention it up front. Thanks again for watching.

Don't have time to de-pill a sweater that takes a few min but have time to make an almost 8 minute video? ok

Thanks for watching and commenting. Generally, I expect the quality of the weave to prevent what I’ve experienced with the Better Sweater Jacket. The purpose of most of my videos is to honestly share my experience with a product. Hopefully, my assessment will assist buyers in making a purchase decision. That said, I’m willing to take time out to contribute to what I consider “the greater good of the consumer.” I recently travelled through 5 countries in 5 days; I didn’t have time to remove lint from a jacket or make a video. But, when I returned, I definitely set aside time to make a video explaining why I didn’t feel comfortable wearing a jacket prone to lint. Please consider subscribing if you haven’t already and thanks again for watching.

Seems like you didn't have time to research how common pilling is in relation to different fabrics, either. Expecting it not to pill just because it's expensive isn't very smart. All it would've taken is a few minutes of excrutiating agony whilst running an automated de-piller over the sweater, and after the next wash, the realization that pilling decreases over time might've just dawned on you. I mean, there's a line between critique, laziness and stupidity...

Thanks for watching and commenting. You certainly got the point of my video. So, you’re definitely, smart, and patient - I assume you sat through the entire video. Sharing an experience with a product that I haven’t viewed in other videos is a large part of the rational behind my product reviews. None of my videos are ever paid promotions (I will make an exception for Dyson). Rather they are honest assessments based on my experience with the product. I don’t think there’s another unboxing video that mentions this issue, which it obviously a concern for the manufacturer. Patagonia has a very large disclaimer about the problem on their website. It’s also not uncommon in the US to dryclean sweaters. A lot of people find drycleaning sweaters limits pilling and shrinkage. It also frees up time for more thoughtful activities. Please consider subscribing if you haven’t already and thanks again for watching.
