This video demonstrates series-fed array geometry with shunt feeding of patch antenna elements. Each antenna element is designed using inset feeding technique to lower its input impedance down to 100 ohms. Array geometry is optimized using openEMS - a free electromagnetic field solver based on FDTD method. Phase shift between adjacent T-junctions should be equal to 360 degrees to achieve broadside radiation pattern. Each T-junction acts as unequal power divider and designed to obtain uniform power distribution between antenna elements. Obtained results are similar to other simulation tools such as FEKO, CST Studio Suite, HFSS and MATLAB.
