Just wanted to say you and Mortimal Gaming have been a godsend for looking up pretty much anything on this game over this years. Appreciate all the in depth videos.

Demon - Aspect of Kalavakus with wolf form - everytime you attempt a combat manuever you gain an attack and every attack you attempt a trip with bites. Infinite attacks and infinite cheese. Aspect of nocticula - give demonic aspect to a pet wolf or dog and let them cheese along with you. You can accomplish this as early as Act 3 for Kalavakus and Act 5 for Nocticula.

One thing I didn't see mentioned about the Lich path is that the indestructible bones ability stacks with the Wild Effigy shifter's N/- damage reduction, which along with the crit and precision damage negation allows you to create arguably the tankiest character in the game. Overall IMO Demon is the strongest shifter due to the Kalavakus infinite damage loop, after that its pretty close between Lich and Legend. A trickster legend Shifter/Demonslayer/Mutation Warrior would be bananas

One thing to note about the angel is that you can play a druid, switch to legend and retain all the angel spells and be a level 20 druid and shifter. A lot of druid buffs work very well for a shifter, and the elemental rampager's rage ability works for shifter. Honestly, I dont know if it really justifies not taking an animal companion even for a shifter (it certainly doesnt for a pure druid), but if you just want to maximise you personal combat capability, its a good way to go. I would say this option is far better at endgame than playing a shifter angel on its own. 20 levels of druid and far more casts of the angel buffs will be a lot better the 8 mythic ranks, sword of heaven and halo abilities. Granted, you arent actually playing a shifter until chapter 5.

Great video. Love the deep dive. This game is complex and one of the biggest challenges is surviving the character creator. Also, you have one of the calmest, warmest friendliest voices on youtube. You would sound amazing narrating children's stories. Great work. With wotr deeply discounted on steam hopefully it will bring more views to your channel.

Gold dragon form itself actually works nicely with shifter mechanics, and the boost to stats, saves and BAB is welcome. You also get 3 feats without having to meet requirements. This enables you to get mythic weapon specialisation, though unfortuantely this is mythic rank 10 only. You should also play trickster pre gold dragon to get the critical feats.

I'm doing Trickster to Legend Manticore and the damage is already nutty before I've even reached Mythic 4/Perception 2 so I'm excited to see how that goes.

Great stuff. I've started up the game 3 times since expansion came out and spent more than an hour each time just trying to decide what to build.

For Legend, it should be mentioned that 3 options are clearly superior to the others in terms of prelegend mythic path. A merged lich or angel can retain their mythic spells after going legend, and both get very useful buffs (though granted, the angel moreso than the lich). If you want to start as a pure shifter, however, trickster is the way to go for the improved critical feats.

I like the idea of playing an ankou a lawful evil fey creature who starts on the azata path but ends up as a devil, it works thematically, but I admit devils kinda lacking, I really like the decree of vengence, hellfire and neverending war, but the other caster ones are pretty lame. the seal that turn you companions into bombs is fun,actually makes greybor useful 😂

For demon I like the major aspect that allows you to make a free attack whenever you succeed with a combat maneuver as a free action. it's obviously best if your are using wolf form who gets a free trip attempt with every bite ( get tandem trip ). With this combo you can get into an endless free cycle of attacks until the opponent your fighting is dead. Basically unlimited free attacks in a round and you can make your trip attempt so high that it's basically an auto success unless the mob can't be tripped.

For lich, you should definitely mention death rush, which works extremely well with both wolf and the pounce enabling forms. Blessing of undeath also provides a huge number of immunities.

Feyshifter trickster is bonkers. I remember doing 4 dip rogue for uncanny dodge and the rest of my levels on feyshifter(yes the rogue talents share with rogue and that's how I got improved uncanny dodge early) to make him feel like a hitman in the game. When he's not hired to do eliminate some targets he'll sometimes have a habit of torturing some poor bastard out of pure boredom but because he's put into the war he'll have a massive hit list on demons(and people who annoys him looking at you cam) he's gonna be real busy as a hitman in the crusade.

I am willing to bet the Aeon is the strongest mechanically for the shifter, provided you manage to go True Aeon (if you don't count looping attacks with Kalavakus aspect on demon). The Perfect Form spell allows you to set all your stats to your highest stat, and shifters benefit from this in two major ways: they have among the highest (top) stat possible from their forms and gear, and they are MAD - multi-ability-dependent. They benefit from high strength, dex, con, and wisdom. Being able to set all of those to match your 80 strength will turn you into a juggernaut of destruction - you'll have well over 100 AC, sky-high saves, and effectively infinite attacks of opportunity. If you build for it, it is possible to make Perfect Form 24h, but this requires the Timely Assistance belt from Act 4. Another angle on this is Azata's Believe in Yourself, giving you a rare morale bonus to the stats of your choice. It won't boost it to 80 like Perfect Form, but it DOES (apparently now) double with the Right of Triumphant Advance. With some caster-level boosting gear, you can get +6 (I believe?), which doubles to +12 with the Triumphant Advance. This will allow you to get close to the highest stats possible in the game.

I just watched Mortismal’s Primer on Shifter and he sold me on playing Manticore for a DEX/Wis/con build. You were listed second under another of his class primers, so here I am.

My neutral evil Weretouched Shifter/Mutagen Fighter with Aspect of Kalavakus in a demonic rage became the world wolf devouring angels and demons alike. Channel your inner G'Mork from Neverending story and laugh at divinity.

Swarm is fine for non spell casters. Take magic nullification mythic ability, combine this with swarm immunities at rank 9 and you will be virtually invincible. This prevents self buffing, so not having spell casting actually works pretty well. Again, you should be trickster before going swarm to get the crit feats.

As for edict of predetermination, this should be use offensively, not defensively. Forcing 11s turns off your crits, and rolling below an 11 should still not cause you to miss given the very large AB boost you get from the Aeon mythic path. It can completely neuter the attacks of an enemy against high AC party members however.

My favorite way to roleplay a demon shifter is to play has Nosferatu Zodd from Berserk. The fact that you can shapeshift into a demon with animalistic aspect is perfect for Zodd !

It should be noted bane will only apply to 1 natural weapon. Its still good with shifter's fury, but if not using the feature, it often loses a lot of value. It should also be noted just how powerful the Aeon bane dispel is. Basically, you will fully dispel any enemy you hit with a single attack at higher mythic ranks. As for gazes, the basic AB gaze, damage gaze and attack of opportunity gazes (depending on crit chance and if you are tripping a lot) are the best of an Aeon. The temporal jump gaze is a trap. Even if it wasnt limited to 1 attack per round, it would be significantly worse than the basic AB gaze. With this limitation and the massive number of attacks shifters can get, you should never use this gaze.

I'm absolutely sold on the demon, the legend or the lich... for simplicity I think I'm gonna go legend first I thought I'd take the inquisitor-sanctified slayer so you get a bit of spell casting, study target and some sneak attack damage or maybe just a pure slayer I dunno I'll figure that out...eventually 🤯

I think a fun style to do would be going Fiendflesh with angel or aeon,roleplaying as a good fiend akin to devil may cry.

Aivu doesnt tank very well unfortunately. It should be noted that incredible might's DC scales with strength specifically and works exceptionally well with pounce (otherwise your crit chance is too low for the debuffs to be applied reliably). Unfortunately, thats really the only good superpower for shifters. Lifebonding friendship is the next best for the teamwork feats, but charisma is likely a dump stat for shifters. Supersonic speed is very low concealment and a single target version of haste. You will have haste on your entire party in any difficulty encounter. It should also be noted that the treasure of the midnight isle has absolutely massive value for Azata. Incredible might will go from +9 to hit and damage at rank 9 to +18, and with caster level 20 (you can do this at mythic rank 9 with the robe of 7 sins), believe in yourself adds +10 to stats when cast on yourself, rather than +5. I would say Azata works best for characters that use offensive spellcasting and isnt a great choice for a shifter overall.

Close to the abyss should be taken by any shifter regardless of mythic path. Demonic charge apparently now has to be targeted and cannot just be used as a teleport. I have no idea why they made this change. I am not actually sure if deadly natural weapons stack with other enhancement bonuses. Its also annoying that its as late as mythic rank 7, because it renders shifter's multiattack obsolete, but playing without shifter's multiattack from level 7 until mythic rank 7 is not a reasonable choice. However, it does eliminate the remaining -2 AB penalty and allows you to get your full strength modifier to damage on all natural attacks. You didnt mention Kalavakus. It is an extremely powerful aspect with pounce (every attack in a charge will trigger an additional attack of opportunity) and much stronger than schir, though using both together is a great option. With the wolf, kalavakus is completely broken. Every attack trips, and every trip generates a free AoO. In other words, it creates an infinite attack loop so long as you hit reliably, and will therefore kill anything instantly if so. You also didnt mention the greater aspects and their stat buffs. This can add a stacking +7 to strength, constitution and wisdom that is always active, and the balor aspect spreads the base demonic rage buff to the entire party.

I think Azata makes a bad combo for shifter since the Azata spell casting stat is charisma which is useless to sifter, after you give your shifter STR, DEX, CON, and WIS it needs there just not enough point left to get CHA to 17 to get all the Azata spells

I'm going to have to wait for Season 2 to go on sale eventually. Sucks that Season 1 is over, but realistically, I don't have this kind of free time for a whole to come at the earliest... Shape shifting is always a minefield of not knowing what stacks with what, lol. I think my brain can't remember that many things.

For players not familiar with the mythic path, its worth mentioning that Devil gets the first 7 mythic ranks of either azata (minus aivu) or Aeon. It should be noted that in particular, an azata devil can reset your uses of decrees, seals and hells authority twice per day with 2nd wind, giving you 3 times the uses, and zippy magic works on both the innate hellfire ray and dominate monster abilities. Regarding the devil specific abilities, seals are extremely niche and honestly not very good. However, the decrees are solid and you overlooked 2 very good decrees. Decree of the hunt can give massive AB and damage bonuses to other party members and decree of hellfire is a swift action, suped up version of storm bolts that is very spammable. If you take ascendent element fire (which you probably should as a devil), this can hit very hard. Finally, combining sword of heaven and demonic rage and having a huge number of uses with 2nd wind if an azata is very powerful, though due to how absurdly late mythic rank 10 is (something that should be changed), this is basically only a consideration for inevitable excess.

out of topic (again): Well be warn everyone, if you ever install mod like "extended content", apparently something i saw in my game, like mythic crossbow training, mythic poison, even i uninstalled those mod (because those mod not updated yet), a lot of stuff still linger which should not be appear in the original game. Man, now i have to becareful how to give people advise and comments about this game, since i dont know which one is from mod which one is not.

Not sure how that Green Lantern pic fits the shifter you're playing in that video but the pic itself looks badass.

Persuasion rank 2 is definitely not game breaking. Its based on your base ranks, not skill after modifiers. This means its very easy for harder enemies to resist it. Rank 3 is based on your total score however, and is much more powerful. Rank 1 can be good if combined with thug, though honestly, having enemies running around like headless chickens with no way to turn off the ability can be quite annoying. Perception 2 for the critical feats and Athletics for the AB bonus and ability to make any save due to how high your strength score can get are the most obvious choices. You also didnt mention 5d6 sneak attack damage, which is very powerful given the very high number of attacks a shifter can get.

Under Azata, Incredible Might is Morale Bonus. Add Ring of Triumphant Advance, to give double Morale bonus and you can get +18 hit and damage. Update: And I see notalefty999 beat me to this.

Trickster should be base shifter with bear primary, and you should roleplay Cocaine Bear.

Relativity isnt great. The DC is low, and you prebuff with haste, not cast it during combat. Also, you get the same effect with the Aeon cloak. The only reason why this ability is notable is that at mythic rank 9 with the right gear and greater enduring spells, you can get 24 hour haste. This would be a lot more useful if not for the Aeon cloak, but the only serious drawback of the cloak is that its haste effect ends after every combat and will cancel out other instances of haste, making 24 hour haste pointless. Granted, you will be constantly hasted in combat, but movement outside of combat will be alot slower which is annoying. You didnt mention divine favour and divine power, both of which are very strong for a shifter. You also didnt mention perfect prediction which is very strong if you tanking with a shifter, which later on they definitely can. Unfortunately, perfect form has been severely gutted as it no longer includes modifiers, which is a shame given how high shifters can push strength. That said, raising dex, wisdom and constitution to your strength score before modifiers is still a significant boost to AC, health and saves, but nowhere near what it used to be. It will also increase the DC of your cloak aura somewhat. Wisdom is also the stat used to determine the DC of the bound of possibility cloak for Aeon, so this spell makes this effect very difficult to resist. If you use the caster level gaze and robe of seven sins AND have greater enduring spells, you can get both divine power, uncertainty principle and perfect form to 24 hour durations.

I don't understand why you would roleplay Venom, Wolverine or whatever. You can make your own character and play their own little stories instead of ripping off already established characters.

I wish Devil was a good mythic path so badly. But it's just so, so meh 😭😭😭
