Many of those boss monsters look heavily inspired by the different creature forms in the movie "The Thing", it was everything else that was inspired by ALIENS..

Back in the 80’s and 90’s, after watching all these action/sci-fi movies, I would complete my fix by playing games that reminded me of those movies I finished watching. Never realizing those games were influenced from those very same movies. LoL

Ah man so many memories this game brings😇 Back in the day at the mall at my local arcade i played this game along the likes of Tiger Road, Black Tiger, Double Dragon & when i got hungry i just chow down some corndogs (inside the local arcade they also sell snaks so you can imagine the sounds of the arcades and while you played well😂 you got HUNGRY of the smells of corndogs, popcorn etc) those of you that lived in the magical 80's and got to be in the arcades of the mall i think that will remember... As always BIG👍👍THANKS for uploading these videos & hope that you are doing ok For me vodeogames are my escape so i hope that for you and everbody else if you need an escape then play videogames instead of drugs or alcohol... Classic videogames for life Thanks again👍👍for uploading brings back classic memories Greetings from Mexico

@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries The pc speaker was also able to provide digitized speech, although with much less quality than a dedicated sound card. If you wanna know how much quality the basic pc speaker was able to achieve, search for gameplay videos of an old adventure game called "Countdown", by Access Software. You'll probably be amazed (I was when I played it many years ago).

@@karnak327 I knew the PC speaker could produce digitized sound albeit at lower quality. The access library of games was the first one that popped to mind when you mention it. Never heard of countdown but I do recall main streets and the narc arcade ripoff Crime wave. Those actually sounded really good With their real sound technology

I recently picked up a Master System and a bunch of games in a lot, about a dozen in all; having only played the Master System maybe twice in my life before, I couldn't wait to check out all of the games. Alien Syndrome was definitely a standout in the lot, I would have played the hell out of that version as a kid if only I or anyone I knew had a Master System. It takes me back to a certain time and place, but doesn't feel dated, if that makes any sense.

I agree, I never had a master system growing up although the graphics definitely raised my eyebrows. I always was jealous of their version of double Dragon because it was arcade accurate

This is one of those games I vividly remember the first time I played it. It was Aladdin's Castle in West Town Mall in Knoxville, TN. It was around Christmas 1987. They had just gotten this and Xenophobe in on the exact same day. There was a huge crowd around Xenophobe, so I played Alien Syndrome. Immediately loved it.

So far, no one has done a proper Gradius series retrospective. I wonder why the best vertical shoot-'em-up series of all time doesn't get much love.

@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries I believe it was a 90s arcade shooter from SNK. Maybe with zombies? I barely remember. I remember playing that along with NARC at the time.

@@PatmanQC-Arcade-Documentaries I played the game on arcades, and it is available on mame. Was a SNK game. Spaceship crashes on a planet, a SAR team goes in to investigate. The wreck is infested with monsters. Controls like Ikari Warriors. Joystick to move with the same facing, buttons to rotate facing left and right
