You can really tell the separation of talent when Opie talks compared to everyone else
@csquared45385 жыл бұрын
If Opie had just been self deprecating on the show and not thought so much of himself he'd have been likeable I think. If he didn't feel insecure and just accepted not being funny I think he'd have been loved. He says it sometimes, but with a whiney kind of passive aggressive attitude. If he just steered the show between topics, said how lucky he was to be there with people more talented than him and allowed himself to be made fun of he'd have come out way ahead on the old fans opinions of him. Most have turned on Ant and Jimmy seems to be split down the middle.

Vos is right about raising kids. He's making the same point Louis CK is about them. Hitting them= bad. Fucks their heads up. Explaining why you say no or whatever= good. Teaches them why things are bad rather than teaching them that parents are just dicks. If Louis was in studio, he'd had said the same shit, but he has the ability to break shit down like Patrice does, so people would listen to him
@_..-.._..-.._8 ай бұрын
Exactly, only insecure men have to hold dominion over children, they’re afraid of letting a child look better than them. There’s always a medium though, I’ve seen nice parents that ended up with a genetically bad kid that saw them as weak and took advantage. Some kids need discipline to be explained AND to have some level of fear of disappointing their parents. Both extremes don’t work, too angry and you make a weak passive angry Anthony who’s always looking over his shoulder, too easy and you make a Danny, who doesn’t think anyone can beat him.
@_..-.._..-.._8 ай бұрын
Also, Louis makes great points, like “Yeah, teach your kid to fix all their problems by hitting people when you’re 3x their size and they have no way to escape you”

"I don't know what this credit card does, I don't know these things, I'm just a regular joe..." - yet would talk about how hard pushing those buttons were... so technically capable but couldn't understand his own credit card? yeah... bs.

I've listened to these for a while & never hated Opie as much as everyone else but as I listen to these over I must now hop on the opie sucks bandwagon. And its because, though I could be wrong, I *think* Opie creates a tension that reminds Anthony of his ex-wife & so Ant being uncomfortable becomes a bit more racist than he usually is which causes Patrice to also become uncomfortable, but Vos sort of balanced out the dynamic. If you listen to the shows where its just Patrice, Ant & Joe, you will see how they are WAY more comfortable, there is a LOT less racial talk & just more fun & funny banter between all of them. Dont get me wrong, the racial stuff can be hilarious too, I'm just saying that Opie creates unnecessary tension in the room.
@mrmagoozle5 жыл бұрын
XTheDentist I cringe when Opie shouts “hold on” then relays a strong that is utter shite and he puts on this accent where he portrays something he is not. Then the second cringe comes in when you realise that Ant is sitting there, cringing himself - embarrassed like his wife is acting stupid in front of his boys. You can hear it in ants “yeeeeah” responses. He is gritting his teeth. If I could have one wish- Patrice Alice and doing a podcast with Anthony cumia. I can dream....
