@Hold Fast All of Patrick Coffin's videos were removed from KZfaq after he began to do videos that criticized approved responses to Covid. Technically they were in conflict with KZfaq's guidelines. One would think that removing videos about that topic would not include videos that had nothing to do with that topic. But this is the world in which we live. Posting prohibited videos make you an untrustworthy content producer. But, honestly, Catholic orthodoxy itself runs afoul of censors. If his channel wasn't removed for Covid it would be, eventually, for countless Catholic points of view. It's only a matter of time for all other Catholic channels. If they are orthodox, they will be gone. If not orthodox, they will be allowed to remain.

I was losing my faith as a Catholic jumping from one Novus Ordo to the next hoping to find what was missing and I came up feeling Protestant each time. The egregious errors especially with this present day Pontificate forced me to seek the Tridentine Mass. I was fortunate to have found one close to home. I don't need to read the documents. Proof is playing out every day that Archbishop Marcel Lefebrve was right all along. Thank you for standing up for the SSPX.

@Mickey Strathclyde one need only read the barrage of attacks on the pope and against Vatican II to see why the pope was right to regulate the TLM. The problem is not the Novus Ordo but rather the irreverence that occurs at some parishes. I happen to know many parishes that have beautiful Novus Ordo Masses. The mass the pope says in St Peter’s is beautiful as is the one on EWTN and countless other places. I attend beautiful Novus Ordo masses, so J can see why people resent the “toxic trad” mentality that is our there; people who seem to reduce the gospel to attending a beautiful liturgy and following rules, rather than having a transformation of heart. kind of like attending a beautiful opera and being moved by the beauty of it all but and once they leave the show they are the same resentful, unforgiving rotten human beings as they were before the mass. We wouldn't have the Tridentine Mass. We wouldn't have had Mass during this past year, we wouldn't have celebrated Easter last year (some cases this year), people wouldn't have been escorted out of Churches for ... reasons, let's say. They proved themselves Shepherds. They must have tough skins cause they've been taking knocks for decades now. It seemed a bit unfair to make the Archbishop seem as if he had a swelled head regarding the comment about saving the priesthood. The Archbishop may well have. There's a part in the biography - heartbreaking, really - that relays how priests, young priests were in tears to be told they had to abandon the Mass. They knew. They went to the Archbishop for help. He didn't do it to become some hero. The man was in retirement.

All of the priests I have seen have told me the opposite. In fact, I regularly heard, in Novus Ordo Masses, that it is possible, and furthermore likely, to be saved outside of the Church. In fact, the new catechism basically coincides with the view that there can be salvation outside of the Church.

The Mt. Dew story was funny. It was more opinion than analysis. He only had 12 min. It could have used some solid research and sounded more like regurgitating what CM put up.

They seemingly pick and choose what doctrine they stress and what they don't even mention. I read about the catholic church in Canada being in open rebellion after Vatican II because of artificial birth control. That was unfortunate, once Rome speaks the case is closed. Paul VI wrote humana Vitale (forgive me if that is spelled wrong,) that addressed matters of sexuality. He said that is catholics embraced birth control things would degenate quickly. Sex is a vital part of being human. Sex has two ends procreative and unitive. For that reason traditional Christianity believes sex is reserved for married couples. Today the German bishops have begun there slow march into heresy talking about same sex attraction and divorced people getting remarried. Sex is complicated, I'd think it would be impossible to be a Christian and completely ignore the teachings of the catechism on sex. Paul VI warned us about the harm of unabated sex would do to society. But I guess you must reject that because you probably believe that the last pope elected was Pias X. What about John Paul II teaching theology of the body? But because the last 5 popes don't actually occupy the chair of St Peter, their teaching you probably don't follow. There has been plenty of popes whom have lived immoral lives privately, but somehow the Holy Spirit has prevented them teaching heresy. Even Lefebvre signed the all the documents of Vatican II, why did he later rebel? Could archbishop Lefebvre have been a modern day Luther? Even Henry VII defended catholism against Luther, how did that turn out? Now sspx has split! When does it end? A sspx bishop installed a bishop in Kentucky but somehow screwed up the ceremony? Wow an illegitimate bishop installing another illegitimate bishop.

Actually the first mass was in Hebrew and Aramaic and after that was in Greek and it wasn't until later on when Latin became vernacular that it was changed the Latin Mass.

Your opinion is noted. It would be more helpful to articulate why that is your opinion. The SSPX may profess the fullness of the Catholic Faith but, in practice, that you can't find their bishops and priests anywhere on a hierarchical chart of the Church is at least problematic and needs to be addressed and resolved. Or, as yet another example, how can the construction of a (beautiful) cathedral sized church in the midst of another bishop's diocese, without his permission or involvement, be a sign of "communion" with the universal church? In a very real sense, they are "independent Catholics" not unlike many others who profess the fullness of the Catholic Faith but are not under the jurisdiction of a local ordinary. I would very much welcome all these "issues" being worked out so the Traditional Faith would have even more "unity among the clans." With the SSPX and all the other "independent Catholic" communities presenting a picture of disunity within the Catholic Church, it's legitimate to raise questions such as those raised here by Patrick. I understand why the Society is reluctant to submit to the jurisdiction of Rome but, in the end, there is no other way to become a legitimate and authentic ministry within the Church.

There has been continuous contact between the Holy See and the Society of St. Pius X with a view toward reconciliation which unfortunately have not yet borne fruit. The canonical status of priests of the society remains practically unvaried. Pope Francis, however, has granted two concessions regarding the sacraments of reconciliation and marriage. These concessions are above all for the benefit of the faithful who habitually attend the pastoral activities of the Society so as to guarantee the validity of confessions and marriages. I know that priests of the society would argue that they do not need these concessions, but this is not the place to enter into a canonical discussion. What is clear is that the Holy Father does consider that they need them and has granted them for the benefit of the faithful. Therefore, although some progress might have been made, and the Holy See desires a reconciliation, I believe that what I wrote above in 2011 regarding attending Masses of the society is still sound. A Catholic who desires to attend a Mass in the extraordinary form should seek the nearest one available. First of all, he should check with the diocese which often publishes this information. There are also many private initiatives with similar notifications. If there is none available, then he or she should attend an ordinary form Mass or even any Eastern Catholic celebration so as to remain in full Catholic communion. Only if there is objectively no alternative should one attend the Mass celebrated by a priest from the Society of St. Pius X. If one has to do so, then I would say that one may go in good conscience and receive Communion at such a Mass. It would also fulfill the Sunday obligation. At the same time, it is our ardent prayer and desire, as it should be for all Catholics, that the doctrinal issues with the Society of St. Pius X will be resolved as soon as possible so that these priests may return to full communion and canonical good standing within the Church.

I submit my knee to Rome who has full authority and jurisdiction over all faithful Catholics for the guidance of their souls. Do you? It is indeed a sin to willingly engage into the theology of the SSPX, while separating oneself from the Supreme Pontiff. So..... One must decide in full knowledge and good conscience, do you follow Marcel Lefebvre and the SSPX, or the Pope in Rome?

But I would suspect that you have decided to denounce all that is right and just, as the video so clearly explains, for the illegitimate counsel of the SSPX. That of course is your choice. But as all Popes have unanimously clarified, the SSPX are outside of full communion with Rome.

The rulings of the Catholic Church, the Popes, Cardinals of Canon Law, all stands against the SSPX. Lefebvre was wrong to do what he did and in the manor in which he did it. One does not get to pick and choose that which one decides is righteous, for that is why Christ established His Church (Matt : 16-18) and that is governing for all faithful Catholics. Non sensical and self professed righteousness from those outside good standing of the Church, add little in the way of clarification, but ironically leads good people astray. @@anng.4542 Where is the long winded legalistic response? Ron J is exactly correct. Former archbishop Lefebvre ordained men to the priesthood, it ticked off the pope. He then installed some guys as "bishops" which got him excommunicated. SSPX calling themselves catholic is like Anglicans calling themselves catholic. Maybe one day both SSPX and Anglicans will be reconciled, until then neither should be considered catholic.

@@drstyxquack: Your response is very simplistic and perhaps disingenuous. Did the Anglicans do what they did with any substantiated unity with Rome? No they rejected the Authority of the Pope on matters he has jurisdiction over. By jurisdiction I mean legitimate authority to command obedience on a given matter. The Pope does not have jurisdiction on any matter of faith if he errors. I assume we agree on this point. For example if the Pope denied the human nature of Jesus Christ. We as faithful would not have to follow him on this departure of Church teaching and tradition. Keep in mind that Papal infallibility is not in question here because those have very specific qualifications. With this being established we can talk further. The SSPX are being told to follow things that have legitimately been condemned by previous authorities. They are being commanded by a legitimate authority (pope) to do an action that was condemned as illegitimate by previously legitimate authorities (former Popes). This would then negate the standing legitimacy of that existing authority on that particular subject. Note that this does not mean their legitimacy in other areas and on other rulings are negated. So the best action in this case is to continue following previously legitimized actions until the subsequent authority provides a legitimate command. This is what the SSPX are doing in regards to the current crisis in the Church. They are waiting for a legal command from their superior but until then they do have approved modes of operations that they can conduct themselves with. The Second Vatican Council has many agreeable points and some very traditional parts. But what is in question is the bad parts, the parts that cannot be accepted by a Catholic. These are the concerns of the Society. If you were in the desert and you were dying of thirst and a angel came holding a glass of water with a drop of posion in it. Would you drink it? No obviously not. This is the Second Vatican Council and the New Mass. It is sadly but assuredly posion to the soul.
