This scene is what turned me from a casual fan into someone who understands why people have begged me to watch it for years. I'm glad I finally gave SC a shot during self-quarantine. Even if I look back on this strange and scary era with horror, I know I'll always remember the glimmers of happiness I had when watching Schitt's Creek the first time through the series. Definitely not the last.

When Moira put her hand on David's arm, I almost passed out. What an amazing gesture for her. This show is killing me. It just keeps evolving and getting better.

This scene could have easily been so cheesy but instead it's pure perfection.

The three performances here that could flop so badly in lesser hands are what give this scene its immortality: There's Patrick’s singing, which was genius of the show producers to keep under wraps so long because it surprised me and pulled me in by ways that only pure emotional surprise can. There's David, with his three decades of practiced cynicism and his snark-shield of fear that barely withstands two seconds of Patrick's opening words ("I call you when I need you and my heart's on fire") before melting...but not without contorting David's face into raw adoration. And then there's Moira, who is so used to being David's soulmate ally, quick to pull the fire alarm in his rescue when the moment, as she expects, gets so embarrassing it will torture her son. Watch her surprise when she hears the word "fire" - it feels just as genuine and moving, for as powerful a reason, as David's. She sees her son is finally with someone who can truly give him love. I watch these three carefully with each viewing to fully appreciate all three actors, and I still pick up new flashes of detail.

I think this speaks perfectly to Patrick working through any internalized homophobia too. Newly out, in his first gay relationship, that line: "It can't be wrong, take my heart and make it strong," hits so differently. He's almost talking to himself.

Im completely overwhelmed with emotions. I dont know if its because its 2am drunk off cheap wine or I'm in isolation. This show is a comedy and has me laughing every episode. but this one had me in tears. The moment of vulnerability on Davids face and love publicly infront of family and a entire community being romantic and not as shameful is beautiful. I wish I had TV shows that had LGBT characters not as stereotypes but real people showing love to each other. Representation is important in film and TV. Sometimes I feel its not easy being gay. Sometimes its hard to find a real connection with a person. But this show has me hopeful. I cant stop listening to this song.

David trying so hard to keep that defensive wall of indifference and sarcasm up, but failing. My heart ❤️

Catherine O’Hara is amazing in this scene. The part where she touches David’s arm is simply breath taking.

The amount of pride in Catherine and Eugene's scenes with David and Patrick warms my heart. The acting is absolutely stunning and I am excited as to what the rest of season 6 will offer. I only hope my parents will be that supportive when I come out of the closet.

Growing up gay I never even knew I could aspire to something like this.

1:18 is when I burst into tears at David’s face. It has an expression of “I don’t deserve this but I love it.” And David DOES deserve it.

Dan levys expressions in this scene make me lose it every. damn. time. When you think about everything the family and especially him had been through on this show, and especially his vulnerability to signs of affection, this scene was a real treat to all the viewers.

One of my favorite scenes from any show, ever. It's so earnest and sweet and genuinely romantic. Schitt's Creek is an amazing show.

Such a beautifully layered scene, from Moira’s reaction, David’s tears & Patrick’s beautiful vocal. I’ve watched countless times and am always moved. Just lovely.

I love how this scene just shattered all the layers of emotional protective outer shells both David and Moire have built up over the years. The moment when David realizes he is worthy of love , it is very moving.

I love how David's face gradually turns from embarrassment and annoyance into accepting and loving Patrick's serenade. It's a sweet moment but still funny.

I think what really sells it is not just that Patrick does a great job performing, but the looks on David's faces as he enjoys the serenade. He's so smitten, touched, and healed. He's been burned so many times, and has burned so many people, that meeting someone as truly genuine as Patrick is and seeing him in this vulnerable, open moment made all the pain he'd gone through to get to that point worth it.

Never thought SC would make me teary eyed. And then this happened.

I never knew the depth of this song. I never really heard it until Patrick sang it to David. It never existed until this very moment and I still have a lump in my throat. Every character has such amazing depth. This show is the most amazing gem.

Just noticed something genius in the writing here: Moira offers to pull the fire alarm to spare David embarrassment. Then Patrick sings "I call you when I need you and my heart's on fire." Moira doesn't pull the alarm. She only pulls at David's arm. It's a fire everyone lets burn.

David letting his barriers down for Patrick is one of my favorite parts of this show. This was the absolute best scene, in my opinion. I cannot help but cry every time I watch it. The authenticity of vulnerability will always be the most impactful part of good storytelling.

David and Patrick are probably the best tv couple ever! They compliment each other perfectly.

This will forever be one of my most favorite television scenes of all time. My heart almost exploded the first time I watched it and even watching it now, for at least the 10th time, my eyes fill up with happy tears.

Apparently when they were filming this - moira rose aka Catherine oHara - couldn't stop crying - and they had to take a good few extra takes just to get it right - for me this was watching David allowing himself to be loved for who he was - .most moving part of the whole series ! Love this

My beautiful, younger, and very straight best friend got me hooked on this show. He told me to prepare myself for episode 6 in season 4. He knows my old tender gay heart would be bursting when I finally saw this (just saw it today). I was caught completely off-guard and was just weeping. I was so caught-Up in the moment that I actually reached out to the guy who broke my heart in March. What the hell, nothing to lose. He wrote back and said I am the sweetest man he has ever met but that he just did not feel the same way. I cried some more and cuddled with my weenie dogs and am going to sleep knowing that someone thinks i am kind and deserving of “simply the best.” Life is good. I love Schitt’s Creek so much it almost breaks my heart to even think about it. Goodnight all. Love one another.

God Daniel Levy really is perfect in every way. His smile alone could save lives

This scene is a masterclass in great acting.

David is almost always in black with white or very subtle color accents. In this scene David is wearing a black sweater that looks like it is on fire with brilliant shades of orange and yellow. Loved this quiet visual that points to what was coming.

The way Moira looks at David while he'slooking at Patrick...she knows love when she sees it.

I love this show so much. Seeing Patrick serenade David being shown as a perfectly normal and beautiful love is how the world should be when it comes to humans loving humans.

This scene always makes me cry, as I try to find my partner at age 33 I feel like that man will never come. This scene always gives me hope for the better, and to keep going. Life is beautiful and if I spend it alone or with someone I will make it the best!

WOW! WOW!, What a scene. I love watching Moira’s reactions even more than David’s. Does anyone else notice the tissue in Moira’s hand when she is applauding at the end of the scene?

This episode took this show from great to a classic and transcendent. I am single and never thought much about it really. This episode made me realize I do want love. As unrealistic as Patrick is (he's pretty much perfect on the show), his character personifies sweetness, tenderness, and an honest view of love. One of the greatest secondary characters ever written into a sitcom. The last time I was this emotionally moved by an episode of a TV show, was the very last episode of Six Feet Under "Everybody's Waiting". Hopefully we get a Patrick & David show because I love these two characters.

Never has a show made me laugh so much and also sob. Brilliant writing and acting.

This show is everything I want in gay relationships on tv and movies. It's sweet and real. Why can't others do it like this instead of punching you in the face with just repeating that someone is gay or have everything be traumatising with a big hullabaloo. You don't have to have someone say they are gay every 5 seconds for it to be inclusive.

IMHO, this is one of the most superbly acted and edited scenes in the entire SC series (and there are so many scenes from which to choose). Everyone brought their A-game to this scene...even the expressions of Twyla and Ronnie...soulful. But this is truly Catherine's scene. Played to absolute perfection.

It was moving and enormously lovely. I know It was a bit late for me to come across this series and I'm glad i bumped to it it just keep getting better and better.
