G'day guys, today we are reacting to Redbone for the first time singing Come And Get Your Love. I loved this song from the movie Guardians Of The Galaxy. I was a pleasant surprise to learn that Redbone is a band made up of Native Americans.

I love Redbone. I remember this prefomance. I begged my parents to stay awake to watch. I had a huge crush on Lolly Vegas the lead singer in white. Redbone preformed at the Native American dance festival here on the reservation. Lolly signed my album. I was so love struck all I could say is thank you. Lol. P.S. I had so subscribe. You reviewed my favorite 💖 Awesome reaction.

Such a great band, criminally under-rated i'd say. In the 70's when i was still a kid, my cousin gave me a bunch of records and three of those album were Redbone albums (i still have them) I played those albums so much.. was completely hooked to their sound (still am, they made great music) Sadly they did not score that many hits, This one, "we were all wounded at wounded knee" and "Tennessee girl" are.. i think the only real hits they had (but they might have a few more i cant think of right now) They kept their roots as an influence for their music and that made it stand out for me, chanting, dancing and traditional clothing all were part of their (proud) act. I'm glad to see that their music is still loved today, they deserve any bit of love we have to give to them, they were great. Thnx Petrol for the upload :D

I watched another reaction video to this song and this was posted there. He explains the dance at the beginning. Joel Chiefbody The dance is called “men’s fancy” it’s a honour dance that started around 1600’s to honour the horse that changed our way of life in every way. We could hunt faster move, travel faster.. So the Dance is supposed to be how horses dance. I know because I’ve been dancing this dance my whole life. Peep my channel I only have one upload of this very dance I’ve been doing my whole life!

Credit for using the version with the fancy dancing. In 1974 being loud and proud about being American Indian was really only getting traction and they were louder and prouder than anyone.

I remember many times going into my Uncle Ricky’s room & jumping on his bed when he was getting ready for a date. One day this song was playing & grabbed me off the bed and started dancing while holding me. He told me, “These men are some of our people.” I was 4 years old & I thought they were related to us. He then told me they were Native American . Honestly, I grew up in a rural area & race & ethnicity was never something I thought of at that age.

My dad knew Burt Sugarman from his days at ABC back in the 70's. I had been playing drums for about 5 years by then and he kept saying "keep practicing and I'll introduce you to Bert Sugarman and maybe you can play for him". I never really knew if he was kidding or not but damn it I kept practicing LOL.

You have to remember , these were pre MTV days and rock music was not accepted on most US channels. Burt Sugarman was one of the first American presenters of rock music on TV. The Midnight Special was his baby. And yes ,they did shunt his program till after midnight.

I love this song. Lolly Vasquez aka Lolly Vegas sang lead. Sadly, he's no longer with us. RIP. You may want to check out "We Were All Wounded At Wounded Knee" and "Witch Queen of New Orleans" by them. Midnight Special came on after Johnny Carson's Tonight Show on Friday nights. It featured pretty much everyone on the radio at the time. It was the only way many people coule live performances of the best bands of that time. There is nothing like it today (maybe Austin City Limits) and it was unique at the time. When you watch Midnight Special you're watching the best available for the time.

J B Lolly, wrote this song because while riding on the LA Bus, some girls were saying, come and get your love! The words include many HELLS, but we didn’t know that then! Redbone is a derogatory term for mixed Native Americans and Chicanos. I also like the songs, Power, and It’s Alright!

FYI...the dancer is called a grass dancer. "There are several stories behind the origins of the grass dance. One is that a medicine man told a handicapped boy to seek inspiration in the prairie. There he observed the swaying of the grass and received a vision of himself dancing the same style as the grass. When he shared this vision with his village, the use of his legs was returned to him and he performed the first grass dance. Other origins attribute the grass dance to scouts blessing and flattening the grass for a ceremony, dance, or battle. The dancers would also then tie braided grass into their belts. Tying grass to the belt is believed to have led to the yarn and ribbons common today.
