I understand that Ripley's charge non Thais a lot more for admission? If it was a Thai Government owned organisation then I get it. But a Western owned corporation. Surely that is purely profiteering?

There are often local prices and tourist prices. Here on Saipan, we dig into the Chinese and Korean tourists and us locals get a discount. Back in the day though we drove off the Japanese because of this. But this was the local government really gouging. I think though having a discounted rate for locals, and a full rate for tourists is understandable, depending on how much a difference it is. Remember, the people in Pattaya, as with most any place that relies on tourism has to do this in part to get locals to come during the slow season to survive. Got some good friends who run tour and dive shop businesses here and the economic situation is very real...Especially with the Covid nonsense. It really hurt a lot of people, so discounts for locals ginned up business at least where I am and helped many scrape by.

@@davidmarsden2012 I think expensive can be a relative thing. Similar venues where I live (US Marianas Islands, Saipan) that cater to tourists, are much more expensive as we are on the US dollar than in Thailand and most of our tourists (at least prior to Covid) were from China and Korea, and they paid. Going to Thailand with my US Dollar, I had no problem paying less than half of what they charge at home for similar attractions. Guam, which is also a tour destination similar to Pattaya is even more expensive than Saipan.

Flew in to Bangkok last night at 11:00 pm, by the time I got luggage and was out of there it was 1230am. I was expecting that so I booked a room at Novotel Airport Hotel. I really didn't want to jump in a cab at 1230am and try to check in at hotel in Pattaya at 130 or 2am in the morning. I'm enjoying the pool this morning, gonna get a massage at the hotel spa, then I'll probably head to pattaya about 1-ish in the afternoon

Used to go Royal Garden as it used to the main shopping mall in Pattaya 25 years ago. Before Central and Terminal 21 opened. Swensen's on the ground floor, good ice cream. Coffee World is good also. Hope the bars can open till 4am when the World Cup starts. Be there 23 November.

It took me 3 hours to go through the Ripley's museum in Los Angeles. It's totally worth the $20 (750 Bahts) ticket price. Thanks for the walkabout and yes it was Marilyn Monroe. 🥰 👍

My .attitude towards shopping is the same as yours Trev. I'm a typical guy when it comes to that, I know what I want before I walk in and I don't divert from that. In and out. The only time that doesn't apply is with music stores. When I walk into a place rammed with drums and guitars I could be there for hours. I've been threatened with eviction from a few of them for playing the forbidden riff on guitar that every store hates. If you want to piss them off, play the opening riff of Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple and get ready to have management rip a strip off you.

It's a good place to wander around I have eaten lunch on the roof terrace a couple of years ago. The Mall here in sunny Southampton is West Quay that you couldn't remember. Looking forward to January 4 weeks in Pattaya might even stretch to 45 if finance allows.

Not a bad place to hang out at. Ate at the food court in 2019, it wasn't bad, wasn't great. Ripley's Believe it or Not museum and other attractions were inexpensive enough to not dig into my budget and was a nice way to kill some time during the day either alone or with my girlfriend. I love the way they have the DC-3 half crashed into the building on the opposite side of Beach Rd. Very neat.

Great vlog Trev! Stayed at the Avani Hotel in 2000 when I first went to Pattaya...it was the Royal Garden hotel then, before becoming the Marriot a while later. Excellent hotel. The stage in the plaza there is covering the fountain...I assume they don't have that going anymore? Changed a bit since I last went in there, but still worth a wander. Cheers mate, all the best 👍

Bangsaen beach has been totally swarmed with Thais on weekends,..just impossible to drive through ...even weekdays are intense at times...couple new restaurants on the main drag ... McDonald still going strong..laemtong mall does have films in English..but still sparse from the covid shut downs...as i mentioned before massage has skyrocketed in price..which ill never understand why....

For me shopping is about knowing what you want to buy at hit it, As for the variety of choice for that item only takes me a few minutes then done and dusted. Where with a GF oh man it turns into a whole day for just a few things and also the trick question "How do I look in this" even if her fashion sense is not quite up to par. And yes on hot days hiding in a mall for AC is a good break until the sun goes down for a beer bar run.

Great video, I go there now and then and was there with friends yesterday. Im a little confused, were some of the exhibits closed and being renovated or just the food court? Central is my fave mall but this mall is unique, but unfortunately dead every time I have been there. I used to be a member of Jetts gym but they moved out and I feel that mall just won't make it in time.

My experiences with construction in Thailand is they 'overdo' the concrete needed as per specifications. Not everywhere of course but for sure you can see the 'over build' in many locations!

there is a roof garden nice and private if you have a GF for a day or so . and yeah I have a pic of two clowns I took there and the chick clown was scowling something terrible withs is a bummer she was the reason I took the pic cute girl /bad attitude
