I found my family member's old rusted NEF Pardner SB1 in 12 gauge. After an hour of sanding and polishing, I brought it back to life. Gorgeous little cheap shottie. A great truck or farm gun. I think they paid $90 for it brand new back in 1995 at Dick's Sporting Goods. lol The actual gun is hardened steel compared to the normal steel barrel. The wood is solid and beautiful Walnut. Every home should have one of these just based on price alone. They do kick but are still great beginner shotguns and super easy to maintain. If you see one online or in a pawn shop for under $150, talk them down 20 bucks and buy it!

Glad you revived it! They’re great utility shotguns. No frills, they just work! I bought another after this video, 12 gauge turkey gun with. 3 1/2” chamber, haven’t shot it yet, and I won’t put 3 1/2 shells in it

I gave one of these in 12 gauge to my son and another to my father in law. I ended up buying another new single shot Stevens 301 12 gauge off gunbroker. I learned to hunt with a single shot. I pretty much only hunt with one even today.

I saved all summer to buy that thing. I wanted the 12 but it was 59.99 and the 16 was 54.99 at a local store called Maloney’s. That was 1979 and I only had enough for the 16 with taxes of course.

Yes you’re right, but the Stevens / savage are made elsewhere. These were still made in Massachusetts up til NEF closed. When they were refreshed in the 2000’s (?) they went overseas for the guns and re-used the brand.

Thanks for showing. My first shotgun was an H&R 410 and it was bought for me around 79 or 80. Think it came from Montgomery ward? I traded it off around 90 for an old 7.65 Argentina Mauser that used to be my dad’s. I’ve been looking for a replacement but haven’t found a decent one yet or when I get a lead on it it’s gone. I’ve had a 10 gauge short short barrel choked when they first came out with them for turkey hunting, A 243, and a rifle slug 12 gauge that I just got rid of. I bought a heavy barrel 223 back around 94 or 95’. That thing with the heavy trigger shot one hole groups at 100 yards. I just wanted to start getting into coyotes at the time. Sold it to a buddy and bought several other rifles, of course through the years and traded off as well. I just bought my little 223 back two years ago! I took it out with some random 60 grain Vmax hand loads for my other rifles and it shot one whole group sent 100 yards in an inch and a quarter five shot group at 200 yards!… Even with the crappy heavy trigger. The original 4x Tasco German haired scope crosshairs fell apart while shooting so I threw a sportsman 6 x 24 power on it. I can see where I hit it 200 yards with it. It’s ridiculous and clear for a cheap scope. I wanted to stick with Tasco because that’s the budget. I had back in the day and to keep it nostalgic.
