The way she acted in Lady Sings The Blues and Mahogany was really Diana. Y'all be forgetting Diane was a project girl!

Patti can sing but she sounds like every other yelling, screaming, hooping, hollering, overly-gospelized and over singing black women singers. Diana can sing in a way no other Black woman artist can sing and she is more versatile than Patti or any of them black singers will be. Diana doesn’t have to be loud to prove that. If you listen to Diana sing with Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, you will hear her ability to blend with another artist, and that is the trademark of a great singer. That took her to another audience for years, and that is something Patti tried to do but failed because she is a one-dimensional chit’lan circuit singer. That is why Diana’s worth Patti will ever be.

Diana Ross was shady with a lot of other black female singers. Had some of other black female singers that would open for her. Always felt threatened by other singers. She was young and played Barry Gordy like a piano. She had him eating out of her hands. It was always whatever Diana wanted. She must of had some good pou nanny. Later on when she got older if she crossed path with any of them, she would befriend them. She wasn't the greatest singer but she had a pretty good voice. Her voice was really underrated. When she was lead singer with the supremes, she had this smooth silky voice and the way she moved her body movements and her lips and her facial was so seductive. You couldn't take your eyes off her. The best stage presence ever.

I'm so glad you made that distinction. Indeed Patti Gladys Mariah Whitney ect may have had much better voices, absolutely none of them had the stage presence of Diana Ross...the other women had to sing when they gave a live concert...all Diana had to do was walk on stage and the audience was thrilled...they wanted to see what she was wearing, how she moved, they wanted to see her go into the audience... back in the day there were only three women who were the best in live concerts, that was Diana Ross, Cher and Bette Midler...they gave you a live performance... Barbara Streisand was smart enough to know she could not compete in that way which is why she almost never did the concert tour route back then...she had the voice but not the live stage presence or persona of Cher and Diana...and that's why today just one of Diana's many estates is worth more than the total net worth of most of the other singers... Diana wasn't just a voice and performer, she was and is a very shrewd business woman, very intelligent...

you cant be as gracious and as flattering as Patti was at the end, if you're not confident about your own talent. Ive seen Patti a lot over the yrs, going back to when her and Nona/Sarah, were on their Nightbirds tour (1975)...and I came close to seeing Diana live, when she pulled together a "reunion tour" in 2001, I think it was...but it never came to fruition, and I lost that chance. But to say Im big fans of both is an understatement. It doesnt surprise me that they 'made up'...they were practically girls, when their respective groups were rivals. These are grown-ass women now, who have made a ton of money, global fame, won awards and are literally bridges to a time when black singers, male and female, werent making any money to speak of..and they sang to earn money for travel and food. They should be applauded for enduring and blazing paths for the Mariah Careys and Jennifer Hudsons.

You seem to forget Diana was from the Detroit projects, I doubt if Patti would have had time to see the floor before she hit it after Diana decked her...if you don't think so look up the story of when Diana decked a photographer in Paris while she had her husband hold her designer high heels, because he was photographing her children, which was an absolute no-no with Diana...her husband stated all he could do was stand back and watch...

FYI -- Diana Ross' antics regarding the Supremes drag (i.e., copying other acts and then going on before them so that they look like the copy cats) has been documented in several autobiographies -- Patti's, Gladys Knight's, and Martha Reeves'. So clearly, any suggestion that Patti or anyone else was jealous of Diana Ross is quite backward. Only someone insecure in herself would find it necessary to see what other acts are wearing, go out and get the same thing, and go on before them to ensure that they look like they are copying her.

@@Maatization Gurl. First of all, they were not teens. They were young women in their twenties at the time, and if the story has been told by Patti, Gladys, and Martha, then it's a true story. Of course, Diana isn't talking about it and why would she? I wouldn't want people to know that when I was coming up in the business, I stole and connived to carve out my place when my talent alone could not guarantee it for me. I take nothing away from Diana's icon status. She IS an icon. But that doesn't mean she's above reproach or that she got there by playing fair. The truth is the truth.

Diana is a living legend in every country on the globe...she ain't checking for those chicks....she's living large..they would all give their right arm to have career and global stardom...so what if they can sing better...a good voice is a dime a dozen...but only one Diana Ross.

The gold suit was pretty bad, but it was just one small story repeated over and over. Labelle didn't seem that pressed about it really and seemed to only say that story because it was like the only story she had about Diana Ross back then. She was otherwise very respectful.

God knows Aretha was talented, now that she is no longer with us a lot of rumors are coming out that a lot of people had no idea of...and you guys want to hate on Diana, because she was persistent in her goal, because she had a child with Gordy, SMDH Get over it and give the lady her props that she deserves. She earned it.

Gladys Knight was the bee on the 1st season of The Masked Singer! Now Patti LaBelle is on there this season as the purple rose. Next season, I would love to see Diana Ross as a masked singer!

Can vouch for Patti. She was filming in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and they set me up with the interview. I was skeptical, idalready interviewed many huge ego idiots. Patti was so nice. She did 45 minutes! Unbelievably honest and open.
