This was one of the biggest hits of the late-70s, and for damn good reason: This is one of the greatest Pop songs, ballads and love songs of all-time. It is also one of my favorite songs of all-time, and I'm a Metalhead. Paul Davis' "I Go Crazy" is a rare song that transcends both time and genre. It never gets old and is so incredibly uplifting and inspiring. Please consider doing "Thank You For Being A Friend" by a colleague and friend of his named Andrew Gold. R.I.P. both of them.

I am a headbanger (chick) as well, and I second everything you wrote. I remember necking for hours to songs like this, but this one stands out. It moves me every single time, and not just because I wish for the day when I believe again that men are capable of this depth of emotion.

This song, " I go crazy" was on the Billboard Hot 100 for 40 weeks and peaked at #1. Everyone loves when an old lover looks in your eyes and they still go crazy! Paul was hot. He was only in his 20's here. The long blonde hair is sexy on him, and the facial hair, moustache and beard are gorgeously masculine. He was somewhat shy and stayed out of the limelight. Their are not that many videos of this man playing this song, either. He could play any of the instruments in his band, very talented that way. He didn't tour much. He had filled our radiowaves with romantic magic and we ate it up back then. I love a lot of different music, but this song is so beautiful, it can reignite an old flame. His other hit 'Cool Night" will also set lover's hearts on fire! Yes I am in love with a dead man. I think I can be forgiven. Thanks for reviewing an old master of love songs!

Memories of the life I left behind...what I mean by this lyric is I am referring to my youth. I only wish I could be there again because life, for me was so much simpler and the music, well the music just meant so much. And as we get older and listen to those tunes our memories come flooding back. Where we were, what we were doing who was in our lives at the time, etc., It takes on a deeper meaning. Once again brother Jamel, it makes me happy to see you enjoy what I/we enjoyed then and still enjoy now! moreover, I really appreciate you opening your mind, heart and ears to this music.

This is timeless. That part about "Old lovers being good friends" just resonates. In my experience, it's better to not stay friends. Yes, be friendly with each other if paths cross and don't try to avoid one another. But don't go beyond a polite conversation at say a big gathering with mutual friends. Something that may seem innocuous such as lunch or a non-emergency phone conversation could complicate things and re-ignite that old flame. Sometimes it's best for both parties to keep one's distance so both can move forward.
