Great lesson in tone. The dude is one of the best guitarists out there and his main tone is from a $49 distortion pedal. Chops over equipment for sure

Pretty sure TC could charge 150 for it and no one would complain. But I guess they just calculate production costs and add a fair profit and that’s it. No need to make it expensive if it’s simple. And don’t need to make it complex to make it good.

Ya gotta love Paul Gilbert! Not only is he a phenomenal guitarist (with arguably the greatest guitar face ever) and very funny... talk about just a down to Earth, humble guy! I mean... his leave on all the time distortion isn't some custom made boutique pedal, but a $50 Mojo Mojo, which sounds perfect for him. Great stuff!

This guy, always impresses me. Not only his playing and thinking musically but his general attitude and humble approach to what he does. He explains his tone very remedially and frankly, that’s the best way for me to hear it. One of the best on the planet. Fo sho!

You know whats my favorite favorite thing out of his WHOLE rig!???? The classic Ibanez logo on his headstock that was used on all the lawsuit Ibanez guitars from the 70s lol What a classic touch i love it!!!! What a throwback! And that slide and magnet attachment is genius hope he patented that and name it after his son lol

I met him a couple of years ago, he told me and my friends a funny story about when he trolled Yngwie Malmsteen by turning up in an Elvis costume to a joint photo shoot with Yngwie for the front cover of a guitar magazine. Yngwie wasn't impressed. The magazine is out there...

Yeah, shook his hand after a G3 show. They are huge. Incredibly humble person just standing in the back parking lot by himself greeting fans. Thanked me for coming to the show, and asked if I wanted anything signed. I said no, just wanted to shake his hand, and thank him for all he does. All around great human being he is.

Every time i see Paul plays, even though just a simple pentatonic lick, always gives me the urges to grab my guitar and play, there's always a positive child-like enthusiasm that infectious from him, not even Joe Satriani or Steve Vai had that kind of effect on me,... I watched Paul few years back at Glasgow Royal Concert hall supporting Satriani and the tone from his amp was freaking unbelievable, I have never heard such a sassy full range guitar tone ever! ! Class !

Paul Gilbert - The world's guitar teacher - I truly believe he belongs in the Hall of Fame, not just for his body of musical work, but for the fact that he has probably taught every single guitarist that will be in the Hall of Fame in the next 20 years and further. There are many great guitarists out there - and guitar heroes - but not many great guitar teachers. Paul really is Guitar Instructor to the Planet - gotta love him. Would love to meet him some day.

While more fame and fortune probably sound good in theory. Paul comes off like he enjoys his day to day life, music and playing guitar just fine. I think he has a family so the traveling probably gets annoying. Being a Hendrix or page would probably deny him most of that - except the traveling. Or WTF do I know. The videos he does on KZfaq are simply awesome and inspiring. I am sure of that part.

bwgti Guy's definately an optimist but Im pretty sure he would like to travel with a Marshall and do less clinics to put food on his table. I remember seeing a rig rundown where he said they dont get great setup because they are not 'Lady Gaga'

Thanks Paul I was so glad to have met you back stage during g3 tour in Chicago it was by accident but I was so happy it was my first time flying in a plain an I bought a vip package that only included joe S. Back in the day our band had what we call the pack and go. It was already packed of course. Each player, including the soundy, had a minimalistic rig. Drummer=kik+snare+HH, Bassist=Bass+Compressor+DI, Guitarists=guitar+overdrive+transistor PV w/O, sound guy=4 unit rack contains 150watt x 2 amp+31BandERa x 2 + 4 channel Mackie + 2 SM57's + 2 PV monitors ALL cord fit in racks back.
