I remember the very first time I heard this song, playing the White Album for the first time in its entirety... got to Helter Skelter, and I was blown away. Such raw intensity...especially considering that it comes right after Sexy Sadie, which is Lennon being very mellow, and then WHAM! It smacks you right in the face. By today's standards, it's not considered "heavy", it pales in comparison, but at THAT time it was new, heavy, raw, transcending, frenzied, ... and fantastic.

I don't buy into the crazy conspiracy theory, but this performance doesn't do anything to help debunk it. Search youtube for videos of Paul singing this with the Beatles and frankly he sings it entirely different, different timbre (expected to change with age) but it's not just the tone of his voice, his phrasing is different and he's off pitch very often in this video.. How did a young Paul without the help of modern tech like in-ear monitors, etc... pull off such great performances on stage in the early 60s but today sounds like a bad impersonator? I realize he's a symbol and the crowd doesn't give a shit because he's a legend, but putting that aside and putting aside the great band performance here, Paul's contribution to this song is not the best case for "Paul isn't dead" although I'm fairly certain it is the same man, he might as well be someone else.. On the flip side at least he's out there still performing.

@@rmzzz76 im late but i wanted to point out that youre misguided by this PID bullshit. The believers of this bullshit theory says original paul died 1966. But helter skelter was written in 1968 and the so called replacement of original paul wrote it. So the man performing this song today was no other than the replacement. There are so many networks of inconsistencies to support the bullshit theory and it just doesnt make sense anymore for people like you to not consider it a hoax
