I got hooked for life on these Fabulous Four in 1966 watching “Help”, at 13, on the « Grands boulevards » in Paris, and I quickly developped to more particularly a “Paul” Beatles fan, but like you, I find his anecdote here uncouth _(I got hooked for life on Jimi too - and “Eric” -, ‘course)._ He does have a minor mean fiber based on something like, _“Why doesn’t everyone realize that I’m the one leading that exceptional group”?,_ that he spent too much time rehashing, in thought or in words. We were millions realizing it, did he realize it and wasn’t that enough? ;> On the other hand, I got the 3-part film “Get back” only recently, watched Part 1 so far, and it’s striking to see how they can be both geniuses and normal people having normal human hangups. Such as this one and George’s (unjustified) inferiority complex. _(However, Ringo comes out as calm and collected, and especially a much more cultivated guy than I imagined!)._

@@pcasto oh because he wasn't the fastest or the most technicaly complicated one? Hendrix reinvented the guitar. He mastered it to perfection, invented his own style, his own genre, and kicked the fuck outta guitarist from that time. He was truly ahead of his time. He accomplished more in 6 years than any other guitarist did in their lifetimes. Just like Jack Bruce said- ''Eric was a master guitar player, but Jimi was some kind of force of nature.'' Greatness isn't about playing fast and clean. He's called the greatest because of his legacy and influence. His willingness to go beyond the barriers and experiment with something new. He could never be boring, because he always had something new to put on the table. Literaly every guitarist after him is either influenced or impacted by his work at some point or another. His genius shows in All Along The Watchtower. He took a song anyone hardly even knew and made it into one of the greatest songs of Rock history. Also Hendrix with his guitar could produce sounds no one else can. Like when he did the Star spangled banner. You can hear machine guns, tanks, fighter jets, artillery, ambulance sirens and even riots in the streets. It also included a segue into taps, the traditional bugle call played at military funerals. Speaking about it, Hendrix performing the Star Spangled Banner is one of the greatest moments in music history. Literaly no guitarist ever has or ever will reach Hendrix's level of impact and legacy.
