Absolutely brilliant. And how impressive are the WA Police Pipe Band - who was the girl playing the bass drum? What a clip for her showreel. Mull of Kintyre brought tears to my eyes. A keeper - wish I'd been there.

Its always been a song I loved since 1975 when it was released. I was there too on Sat night and while deep down I wished Paul would sing it, I thought it was probably too out of kilter for a live concert. When Paul started strumming the first notes I got goose bumps and just could not believe it. When the Police Band marched on with the Pipes and Drums I was beside my self. It was too much to believe. All around me people had tears in their eyes and were singing along, as did I. Here I am at 60, still moved by a Beatle - Paul truly gives to his fans...

Obviously I am not of Scottish descent but these bagpipes always tugged my heart strings... It is worthwhile to note that in Malaysia where I live, the Police Band, the St John's school band and many others still have very good bagpipes in their make up. One of the Sikh organization's bagpipers, actually won a international bagpipe competition in Scotland...Thanks, Sir Paul

Yep. If you take any single criterion, there's probably somebody who can beat him - Elvis might have had more Number Ones, Michael Jackson might have shifted more units, Mozart was technically a better composer, and so on. But if you factor all those things together - number one singles, number one LPs, millions (billions?) of records sold, cultural impact, songs written that have been covered by hundreds of different artists, being a Beatle, Mull of Kintyre, length of career, wealth generated by that career - by any reasonable measure, this is surely the most successful musician who ever lived.

Wow, for all that Paul had been rightly lauded I think his unique musical genius is still underappreciated. He's a savant. It's not just hard work and talent with Paul, it's not that he's a trained and skilled musician. He thinks music. His tunes are always melodic and memorable but that's just the sheen of the song, there's always lots of interesting twists underneath. It's both highly eccentric and highly entertaining at the same time, something that rarely happens. Usually if you've got some avant garde piece of art it's a trudge to get through. Thanks for all the wonder, Sir Paul!
