I met Paul in Bolands Bar next to the old bus station in Wakefield. He was getting pissed with my old man and he sold me some weed.. someone grassed on him (I thought barmaid). Well coppers came and said nothing about the weed and asked if he was alright. I think it was just to check on him, but they just went and left him to it. Lol 😆

He was my mum's cousin. My grandma was Nora sykes . Walter sykes her brother was my great uncle. I knew sharpie (his son ) well both inside prison and out. I've seen a lot of Balls talked about sharpie about him being a bullying bastard ect but he wasn't. He was OK was sharpie. He never knew his dad and my mum were cousins and he was always OK with me. He's definitely not the bullying he's painted as . He used to come and ask me for tobacco ect at my cell door and was never threatening. He also saved a girl I used to know from an overdose. He was OK sharpie. As for Paul sykes he didn't deserve to end up as he did. I still see his son Adam. About he knows his dad was my mum's cousin. Unfortunately he's really on his arse is Adam but he although not anything like his dad really looks like hi..

Be interested to hear their story. There's 2 podcasters that clearly show their jealousy of these 2 blokes and seemingly talk a lot of insane waffle about them. The reason I say waffle is because the 2 podcasters stories of these 2 changes every day they talk about them.

Jamie i was a massive boxing fan back then, regarding Sykes and his fight with Gardner, he caught Gardner with some big shots, but never deterred him, which tells me, for all his strength, Sykes wasn't that big a puncher. I don't think Gardner could have walked through punches like that, If the likes of Bruno, Bugner or definitely Lewis, was delivering them. these stories are always Interesting, thanks.

I fully back your point about people not having to have been there to write a book. I don't need to play football to know about it, I don't need to have kids to know what not to do with kids, if you're a historian, you have to research things that happened before your birth, so it's crazy that people say you don't know what you're talking about! You are a historian...of sorts 😂

Exactly! There was a couple of brothers who were known for their violence where I live. Not trained fighters, but very violent! In their 20s/30s they could tear up a pub or turn up to batter someone who'd bad mouth them. But people create legends out of people like this!
@theglobe793Ай бұрын
@@justtango4741yeah all these hardmen would get absolutely battered by pro fighters like Tom Aspinal or Jon Jones. That's the route hardmen should take, don't fight in a pub right in a ring or a cage, get paid and stay out of trouble. Fact is the fighting games have changed and you need to be well rounded now.
@user-nr8sd9vd8t7 ай бұрын
why do people make a comparison on who would win between the two when none of us have seen Duffy or Sykes in action? We’ve seen Sykes in the ring and he looks a tough strong powerful man but nothing out of the ordinary tough guy stereotype. Does anyone actually know how Duffy fought or if he could box? Some people say he was rangey and fast, others say he was just strong and sucker punched everybody. The chances are both of them would win 5 fights out of 10 with each other.
@user-nr8sd9vd8t7 ай бұрын
I’ve read a lot on them both and granted not all of it will be true but i give the edge to Duffy because of his freak genetics and his thirst for violence, apparently he could take a really good shot too which makes him much harder to beat where as Sykes has been know to be laid out a few times now.

I can’t help but think Duffy looks like a kid in photos and I can’t see him talking on Sykes - like the taxman talking bad about PS when he’s not around to defend himself, it comes across when you hear as pure jealousy - I reckon he probably robbed a couple little small time drug dealers and lives off rep - Sykes is infamous and a ‘born legend’ according to Bronson
@joemorgan6367 ай бұрын
Paul Sykes was from the 70s boxing wise he wasn’t very good seriously strong but but boxing pure ability no good compared though to the normal run of the Mill guy out on the road lightly Duffy I think Paul Sykes would’ve done him why because he was a street fighter and a boxer rolled all into one if everybody understands what I mean so he 100% what about the edge over him but listen Knouff respect to both of them rest in peace
