The song makes me cringe, but it is catchy, to say the least. I first heard her singing backup for Peter Gabriel. She was amazing! A true talent. Kudos to you girl! God! What an awful song! Why didn't the tractor just roll over your cowboy? All the cowboys are line dancing at the local gay bar. Pleasure yourself and let the cowboys die on the lone prairie! Lol!

I love it when she does this song with the mask. It's audio visual heaven. So much of a story being told by more than just the notes and lyrics.

I believe she first did this on Rosie O'Donnell's show in April of '97; with the mask which diffuses her voice. As we watched I was drawn-in and thought 'what the h*ll is this?!?!' I wanted to see it again but we hadn't thought to record it. We had to wait until it was rerun a few months later.

People were clamoring for this song and to see it done like this was superb. I watched Paula Cole perform this on Rosie O'Donnell's Show in April of '97 and it was surreal for the use of the mask in the narrative portions. This song really drove the Summer of 1997 and this video is the perfect zeitgeist for that point in time.
