TIP: Leave the water in the wash side until you're done spinning. The weight of the water will keep the machine from moving/bouncing around while spinning.

I have this machine and absolutely love it. I wash it then drain it, fill it back up with clean water to rinse them, the second time I fill it I add fabric softener then after I run it again and drain it I then put it in the spin part. As a kid, I remember my mother saving the rinse water from the washer and using it for the wash cycle of the next load. This could easily be done to help save on water. Even if you live in an apartment where you don’t pay for water, conserving water is good environmentally.
@morsumbra9692

Agreed but no amount of water you save will make any difference. The problem is corporate water use and waste and farming waste(like corn being subsidized in arid climates...). Don't give in to marketing that says environmentalism is YOUR problem. Cuz compared to the jerks paying to have the amazon burned down or Duke Power company "accidently" dumping coal ash, you doing as little as a dragonfly to the earths mass equation.

Omg.. I cannot express how great full I am for this video. I’m 60yrs old and renting in a building that has its laundry appliances upstairs and we’ve got ( One washer, One dryer) too share between 8 apartments with multiple residents per apt. ! I’m physically disabled and climbing stairs carrying laundry is impossible. Carting laundry too the laundry mat locally isn’t possible either and it’s outrageously expensive!! You’ve given me hope where I had no hope left. And .. thank you for actually demonstrating this appliance. I’ve more faith in the washing appliance being a stand up product before making a purchase. Hi! Just saw your video and I thought you were going to show a new appliance but here in the Philippines we have been using that kind of a machine for the past 30 some years! Here we have house help and that is the machine they use to do the laundry. I made the mistake of buying a Maytag washing machine which is 12 times more expensive then that machine. I bought it to make the helpers work lighter by not having to transfer the clothing from washer to spinner only to find - that this much more expensive machine breaks down so much faster and then spare parts plus repair costs soooo much! Here in the PI a machine like the one you demonstrated would cost 4K pesos while a fully automatic costs easily 50k. But, these 50k machines are a real dud ! Super lousy ! The machine you demonstrated is so much more durable than the fully automatic ones we have here - US brands but assembled in China ! Lousy as hell! No kidding!

Even the hand cranked machines work great for 5lb loads if you wash little and often, around $35.00 I believe. Or, one could use a couple of 5gal buckets and a plunger, if that is something you could manage physically. Wash in one bucket and rinse in the other. I have also seen RVers take a plastic tub, add detergent, water and clothing, put the lit on, and drive around, the motion agitates the clothing. A dehumidifier in the bathroom will dry clothes quickly if you are not able to hang washing outside or by a fire, or on an oil filled radiator. Little radiators are great for finishing off line/frame dried washing if it rains. I like using drying frames, because they are easy to just bring inside.

I bought a used large salad spinner at a trift store, and large bowls to set it in. Drilled holes in the bottom of the spinner so the water can drain into the outer bowl, one bowl soapy water, one rinse water and one to catch the water spun out. Soak the clothes in soapy water, agitate for a a bit, lift the spinner to the empty bowl, spin, set the spinner in the rinse water, agitate, then back to the empty bowl to spin dry. Start with light colored clothing going to darker colors using the same water for the whole wash. Doesn't take electricity, takes little space, conserves water!

Also, although it stops automatically when opened, wait till the spinner slow down a bit, it will help the motor belt last longer since its not being forced.

This is a modern version of the old type of washing machines called a twin tub here in Ireland back in 1960s. They were made of metal and the clothes would be very hot especially after washing whit clothes.. We would use a very large wooden tongs to take the washed clothes out of the washing section into a bucket before transferring to the ringing tub. I used to help my granny on Saturday mornings do this job . The machine would shake sometimes across the floor when ringing so you had to stand by the sink and make sure the emptying hose didn’t fall out and spill water everywhere. Trip down memory lane here!

I have the exact same one. Bought it March 2018. I had a regular sized type of twin tub in South Africa and used it for years. When I saw this on Amazon, even though it is half the size I bought it just because I loved the one I had. It is really amazing! I have a super large automatic Maytag, but I use this one instead🤣. I use the Maytag for blakets and other really bigger items. I wash all my clothes in one hour instead of one bundle taking an hour in the Maytag! I also love the fact that I can determine the wash time. Regular daily worn clothes are not so dirty that you need to wash it for an hour! The spinner does spin super fast and the clothes do come out nice and quite dry. Just make sure to put the plastic shield thingy that came with the machine into on top of the clothes in the spinner, otherwise it is going to "fling" the clothes up onto the lid and make a scary sound. Also, when I am done washing, fill the wash side with water again put a cap of softener in that and just push as much of the clothes I can in that and then leave it for a minute or two without turning it on. Then spin it out and fill the large tub up with more water if I couldn't fit all my clothes into the wash side all in one. My clothes are really much cleaner and softer like she said. I am looking to see if I can get a larger one with a water pump. I am very glad I bought this one though. And as I said, I bought it in 2018 and I use it 3 times a week and never had any problems with it! Thank you for this video too. I agree with you , this was a good investment. I wash outside (I don't have a drain for the water in my laundry room). I use the garden hose. This machine is very light, so not difficult to carry at all. I drain the water onto my tree too and the soapy water doesn't hurt the tree at all.

I had one of these - a Hoover - when I was first married. Loved it. The only thing I would say is I would start with good white clothes. Remove them from the wash tub and spin them. Do not drain the wash water. I would then wash a load of light colored clothes, I would spin each and place in a laundry basket . I would then wash a load of good dark clothes or lightly soiled dark clothes, wash and spin. And then my heavily soiled clothes. Once everything has been washed I drain the wash tub. Once drained I would fill with my clean clothes and repeat the process to rinse each load. After rinsing and spinning they would be ready to dry. This way you save on your water. Loved my Hoover washer / spin drier. I also had 2 babies so this was great for keeping up with the cloth diapers.

I completely agree! Start with small loads, assess, and adjust. My Kuppet has paid for itself since I bought it in 2020 - figured at $5.50-$6.00 per load over the past 2+ years I use a drying rack and a "shop blower" fan to dry most things; others I can hang on hangers to dry them fully. I LOVE my Kuppet; I can't stand our apartment laundry room - people don't clean up after themselves. IF I have to use one of the dryers, I wipe out the lint from the filter, take it to my sink and use a scrub brush on it, to get rid of dryer sheet build up and stuck-on lint, tap it dry, reinsert into dryer slot, wipe the tumble tub clean with a disinfectant wipe, THEN put my washed load in to be dried.

THEN add more fresh water + run cycle 2nd time so detergent will be rinsed/then drained out in 2nd drain cycle. THEN put clothes onto other side for SPIN cycle. MIGHT buy 1 just for PREPPER PURPOSES... SURE would be better than stick with bucket full of water!

@@PaulaCodo Actually, that second intake on the spinner side should eliminate the need to refill the washer side for the same load. Connect your water intake hose to the spin side, add your wet clothing, turn it on, then once it reaches full speed, turn on the water intake for that side. The fresh water while spinning helps spin the dirt out. Run that until you're satisfied the dirt has been spun out of your clothes, then turn the water off and allow your clothes to spin, as normal. I normally do one spin cycle with the water on, then one with it off.

Australia used to have these twin tubs as standard pre-2000. Not sure if they're available any more, think my sister has as old one but my mum really misses hers, now has a front loader. Usually much quicker, but fairly small loads. Not sure about water efficiency except you can use 1 tub of laundry water for multiple loads (whites, then lights, then coloured, then darks), maybe with small top ups if necessary. A bucket of water for a second rinse after spinning out the first time back into the washing tub ( not a bucket). Second rinse used to go down the drain, so did the wash water after you were done, last step so the spinning action doesn't walk your washer everywhere. Also squeeze or twist the drips out of your clothes back into the wash tub before you spin, makes it lighter in weight for the spinner so less wear & tear. ETA: this was a step up from the wringer washer we had in the States in the 60s/early 70s. So Mum was used to multiple loads through one lot of washing water & needing to rinse etc frequently at the end of a wash cycle separately from the washer tub. Actually used to rinse clothes in a separate sink of cold clean water before the second spin or wring out, both machines. Memories of getting my hand caught in the wringer while helping which later generations will never have.

I'm sooo beyond HAPPY I bought this washing machine, I've had mine for 2 years now, never had problem, and I DO wash clothes with grease and oil as my husband and son are mechanics!! Biggest thing is do not over fill your spin dryer!! I absolutely love this washing machine, still one of my best purchased products ever!! I also bought myself a Panda Portable dryer($380 at home depot online), I've had dryer for 1 year now, no problems, works amazing!!. It's in my kitchen on a rolling cart, I bought window mount for vent tube, I would and have told everyone that's in small apartment or household with no or expensive coin laundry rooms to save up and buy this washer machine and dryer!! My 2 best purchases EVER!!! I've saved so much money, my electric bill only went up $6 a month, compared to $30-$50 weekly on laundry mat!! $120 for costway biggest washing machine and $380 with shipping included for Panda 3.5cu. ft. So worth the money!!!💗💗

I wish I know about it 6 years ago when I moved into my apartment, I spent sooo much money at laundry mats. *Also for anyone that is like me and wants to put In tub for no kitchen floor accidents(good way to clean floors/first time using it..lol) if you dont have shower head that comes with hose, get renter friendly hose shower head it makes for easy filling or get one of those big plastic circle buckets for ice with handles(Walmart or big lots) then get little buckets at dollar tree that looks exactly the same and fill your big bucket with water from bottom tub spout and use smaller buckets to fill the washer.. I use both methods so I don't waste time refilling every time I drain my dirty water. After spin dryer I use small little laundry basket from dollar tree to bring clothes to my dryer in kitchen.. got little system that works great for all!! Also I have reusable laundry soap bottles that 2 pumped is prefect for size of washing machine. I have 10 year old with autism that sometimes has night time peepee accidents and I wash those thick hospital pads, stuffed animals, even pillows... yes I SAID IT.. pillows (one at a time) stuff that in spin dryer for few seconds to get bulk wet out, throw it in dryer and there big fluffy and like brand new!! I've put my Costway washer through everything and I have to say ITS A LITTLE BEAST!!💗 also don't use super hot water with darks or to much laundry soap.. It will bleed the dyes out of clothes even older Jean's and tshirts!! I'm doing laundry now, so I'm thinking of all the tricks and tips I learned from my experience that I wish someone would have told me..But I'm nothing but IN LOVE and HAPPY with this little machine!! I have had my Costway washer for 2.5 years $ 112.00 for RV & love it. Was watching a woman scared to leave her apt & she bought one, Saved money & time. Washes all my leggings, shirts & intimates in 5 minutes (I feel that's all I need). I use Woolite #1 Tablespoon detergent at the end of water fill bc it will be too much suds. Plus if anything has long sleeves or legs I put some things in delicate bags bc it will get tangled up. In fact I stay & watch it & sometimes have to manually pull apart within the swirl wash. It is not that hard. You can wash a queen sheet & pillow cases at a time but I would not wash or load to the very top too much I think. I drain & rinse with fresh water. It has a small lent trap in the wall you remove to clean.The spin side is my fave bc it truly does come out practically dry but you can not put but half full & don't you dare forget the plastic topper for it. I even have used a regular sized washer & respund my clothes in this sweet spinner. SAY AGAIN I USE 1 TABLESPOON OF DETERGENT ITS THAT GOOD OF A WASH. 2.5 YEARS & STILL GOING. IT IS WELL WORTH THE MONEY BUT NOW I THINK THEY ARE CLOSE TO $150.00. Just my opinion on this appliance.

Jenn, I do the same, and spin the wash wash water out, before rinsing this is how we also did on the old wringer washers too. It helps to rid the clothes of detergent residue better. Since my machine came with no running instructions, tried it with and without the spin between wash and rinse, and liked the results much better with the spin between. Also you can do several loads in the same wash water by going from least soiled to most and add additional detergent if needed as you go along, put the spun clothes in a basket. and then do the same with rinse, changing the water as necessary. this is how we did it in the old days - when I was young, and it will save you a lot on soap and water.

Now I have it on a cart and use kitchen sink to fill the bucket and drain. I had my first one about 3 years, using it nearly daily. THE DEAL GUY I am one of your subscribers. I bought this unit from Costway 5 years ago. I settled on this one because: 1) Costway is a known brand with a generous refund policy. 2) It has a large capacity. 3) This unit has a gravity drain rather than a drain pump. Since parts are not available once the drain pump dies your unit no longer has a functional centrifuge. The system I eventually settled on is to put it in my shower on top of 2 Gorilla brand steps stools for maximum drainage. This prevents souring or spillage from working with a bucket. I actually use an empty hand soap container for detergent. Two pumps or 1 tablespoon. 1 tablespoon if you use powder. More and you will have to rinse twice. 2 ounces of oxygen powder for tough loads but no chlorine bleach! It ruins the mechanical parts. The washer section has a 5 gallon capacity. I know because it use to sit on my front porch steps and was filled with 1 five-gallon bucket. By comparison, a standard top loader washer holds 20 gallons of water. You can wash 3 pair of jeans or two towels. Up to 6-8 shirts. A small throw or a bath sheet fits but not a twin sized blanket. It is best to test by fitting something in the dryer/centrifuge before actually washing said item or you will wind up twisting the item dry. First, fill washer compartment with items, then put in water and soap. There is no appreciable difference in putting in detergent before or after water. I found it easiest to use a drop down shower head rather than connect the accompanying hose by use of specific additional equipment. Set the left knob to desired timing and go do something else. Heavily soiled items like sneakers can be drained and washed twice, or even three times but if you don't change the wash water they won't get any cleaner. There is a gentle setting for undergarments, etc. Ladies, please hook all bra enclosures before washing to prevent tangling. I actually put my bras into a rectangular stainless steel basket from 5-Below which fits beautifully in the top of the washer compartment and would wash other items below at the same time. After the wash cycle start spinning the soapy clothes as you drain the washer. This has to be done in batches because this unit, like all the models, for some reason, has twice the capacity in the washer section as in the "dryer" section. (It isn't a dryer as we know it in the US. It is a centrifuge.) After the full load is spun out, rinse out the washer section, return clothes to the washer section and fill tank again. Rinse cycle literally takes half as much time. *Pro tip: Do not drain this load. Save the water for the next load if you have one. Just add soap. The spun clothes can be dried in one of two ways--either on a rack or, as I have done, add an additional shower curtain rod at the center of the shower and hang things from plastic Dollar Tree hangers. If you have a lot of laundry you can do both. Tee shirts, sweat shirts and sweaters are best hung by folding them in half over the bottom of the hanger so you don't get marks on the shoulders. Heavy items can dry faster if you flip them over on the hanger halfway through the process. Clothes sometimes won't dry before they sour if you only hang them up so I used a garage style fan which has a tilting feature pointed straight at the clothes. They are inevitably dry within forty minutes to an hour. Drying clothes with a fan also cools the apartment quite a few degrees so, since you are nerdy, (cute nerdy) you may want to use a thermometer to measure that difference. I like to hang up my clothes and turn on the fan just before bed. The noise and drop in temperature helps me sleep. THE DEAL GUY I hope this helps and you mention me during your video review of this item. PAULA CODO feel free to pin this post and I hope this helps.

This isn't the largest. There are much larger portable twin tub washers. I had a 30lb capacity one, though I didn't like it because it didn't preform as well as one slightly smaller, in my opinion. I have found 19-26lbs capacity portable twin tub washers with spin dryers are most effective; especially for those with families.

Now, imagine if these were still manufactured in Canada and the USA, they'd work 100x better and last 6 times as long.

We've had this washer for 4 years and love it (only two people so it might not last as long for a bigger household with more loads). The instructions with ours (same brand) are to spin the clothes before you rinse them, then spin them again, but since you didn't do that maybe I'll try it without that. You can fill the tub for the rinse while clothes are spinning, too, which helps if you do spin before rinsing or if doing multiple loads, to save a little bit of time. We wash towels, too, and certain lighter weight blankets and comforters, but some of them won't fit as you said. We also bought a portable dryer and love that, too. We made a raised 'cart' for the washer with two solid wooden wine crates on top of a flat dolly with wheels, and keep the washer on that all the time, so we can use it in the bathroom and drain it down into the tub. We use our handheld shower head to fill it. It's been a great machine for us. It does take more hands-on time compared to a regular washer, but it beats going to the laundromat.

That is a big one! I have the smallest portable washer and spinner and I love them, cool video! I have been using one of these every Wednesday for nearly 2 years, for 5 people in our full time camper life. You don’t need to wash for 15 minutes, 5-6 minutes is totally long enough, I have my washer in the shower because it gets wet wet wet and it’s so much easier to just let the hose drain out into the shower drain. You also will come to find that you can cut the soaps down to half what you added just now and it does fantastic! This thing is so efficient compared to the big traditional machines. I wash in soapy water for 5 minutes, spin 1 minute to get the dirty soapy water out, set aside do as many loads as I need to in that same soapy mix, rinse all the loads for 5-6 minutes (keep adding water to keep it full), spin each load for 4 minutes and hang them to dry. Washing laundry in a real full size wash machine doesn’t make sense anymore. I have used a laundry mat 2 times in the last 2 years and both times I am blown away at how wasteful and expensive machines are. I can’t imagine ever going back, I used to hate laundry at my house to but now I feel good about it.

I bought this. It works great I am on my second one in 12 years. Just got the new one this spring. I simply put it on my patio and run a hose with a nozzle. Let it drain on the Grass. This is my second washer because sometimes I have a smaller load.

This past Wednesday we had a flood in our basement from the city's storm drains backing up. Everything was under three feet of sewer water. The flood took out our washer, dryer, furnace, hot water tank, and everything that was stored in the basement. I had a portable washer similar to yours down there. It's the only thing that survived the flood. Right now this thing is a life saver. All my clothes were in that flood water. I still need to go to the landromat for all the quilts, towels, and blankets, but thank God I can wash my dresses and underwear.

I have a mini washer from a different brand, because we had the same issue (apartment with no washer dryer). Works wonderfully. We have moved to our house a year ago but we had an issue of no working dryer (outlet issue) so we bought a mini dryer (works with a 110 outlet). Also works wonderfully.

My mom had a similar one of these. She would use the water for at least two washes before she drained it. Washed her dainties first then shirts next and rinsed while in the spin cycle. Saved a bit of water. Love this machine.

We have this washer and just put it in the bathtub and use the handheld showerhead to fill and don't worry about the draining at all 🤷🏽‍♀️ it actually cleans better that a railway washer. And will spin a washcloth so dry if you put it on a piece of paper and it won't get a wet spot.

Excellent video! It offers good information and, for me, great nostalgia. I bought a Hoover washer like this (plus separate dryer which just plugged in a regular outlet) back in 1974 when I was a divorced mom in an apartment .... and my daughter was in diapers, as in cloth diapers! All these years later I still remember what a godsend that little machine was! 🥰 I'm quite tempted to have one now in my retirement apartment but I live on 3rd floor and would be concerned about my neighbor below hearing (or feeling) it spin. Our building is lovely but only 3 units for 31 apartments, and one dryer died months ago. I daresay you have helped a lot of folks realize they have a laundry option. Kudos!

Nice video. I have watch other videos about these portable washer/spinner combos and I learned a couple of hints. I have seen others set the machine in the bathtub. Less or little water mess on the floor and easier to drain. This also frees up the kitchen area. Also others have put their washed clothing in the spinner to get out all the soapy water before they start their rinse cycle.

I’ve had a twin tub machine in the past and my mom used one for a time when we were babies. I’ve always rinsed the clothes during the start of the spin cycle to make sure all of the dirty water and detergent is removed from the clothes. I love how much water the spin cycle removes, helping your clothes to dry faster if you’re hanging them rather than putting them through the dryer.

@traceybradshaw
@traceybradshaw 2 жыл бұрын
@@izzyjones7108 you can spin them out for a longer time if you want and I found that the clothes were drier than when then come out of a regular washer. I had to hang my clothes to dry for years (very common here in Australia) and would only use a dryer in an emergency - we couldn’t afford to run a dryer when my babies were small. Even now I have an amazing washer and dryer and money is not an issue, we still hang our clothes out to dry 90% of the time.
