The plaintiff brings her son’s ex-girlfriend to court. She claims the defendant manipulated her and her son, but now the defendant won’t pay her back, so she’s suing. The defendant argues the plaintiff’s son was emotionally and physically abusive, and the plaintiff told her she didn’t need to pay her back because she felt bad about the abuse.

Even though I understand why the plaintiff won the case, I feel badly for the defendant. It really does seem that the mother went after her for the money mostly out of anger about her son being arrested. The defendant didn’t even press charges for the domestic abuse (she absolutely should have though). She was ethical about returning the cross pendant without needing to be asked to do so. She moved out of the house with her young child because the plaintiff wanted her to move instead of asking the son to go through the hassle. She seems like a decent person. Also, even when she didn’t have much money she still made some small payments ($10) because she was trying to honor her commitment to pay the debt. (Something I doubt the unemployed son would have done.) I realize that she still owed the money, but it just seems like the plaintiff was mostly motivated by anger about her son being in trouble. I wish there could have been another outcome. Obviously the plaintiff’s son benefitted from those loans indirectly because he was able to live rent free and job free for 2 years.

Legally the Defendant owes the money. Morally, after supporting the son for 2 years(the Defendant), the Plaintiff should have let it go. Also, pretty slick saying the son came to her asking for money on BEHALF of the Defendant. Let the Plaintiff get the money FROM HER SON. The Defendant's actions with returning the cross shows that she is a moral person. She's better off without the Plaintiff's son in her life.

So, you move a recovering heroin addict in w you and your kids? K. His mom tells you that it'll be better for YOU and YOUR kids to move out of the home that YOU pay rent for....and you do it??? TF?? And, the mom is an enabler based on her saying that the gf pressed his buttons---plus, she was trying to make it seem like him putting her kid on the bus was equivalent to paying rent.

The judge is so back and forth with the way she rules on cases I've seen her many times tell someone that because they had no record of trying to get the money for a long period of time that that they didn't owe the money because it was either a spouse or a family member, I also think if the judge was going to make the defendant pay the money back that she should have only been responsible to pay half of it, so because the plaintiffs son was a bum loser he was responsible for absolutely zero when it came to the financial aspect of their relationship!

I kinda believe the defendant in this one… seems like the mom would have done anything to have her son have a better life… then a year goes by and he beats the defendant and they break up so she wants money back.

Crazy how somehow can rack up 3 grand in credit card debt and get bailed out by your boyfriends mom and then somehow your not responsible to pay back is crazy

Nobody but nobody has a tax return due, it's a tax return once it's in your account, until then it don't exist no matter what is written, proposed or told.

unfortunately the fact that he was abusive had nothing to do with the case, she borrowed the money and she has to pay it back. All that other information was just to give background. If she would have gotten it in writing and the lady said you don't have to pay me back, the judge may have considered that.

I guess they would have to offer some incentive to the guests, in order to get them to dismiss their cases and appear.

The fact that this chick can't muster up enough Pride to pay back such a large amount of cash to someone who was kind enough to help her out. I'd be ashamed and embarrassed!! Hopefully the Plaintiff smartens up too and STOPS loaning out money2ppl whom she isn't even related too..

I don’t think the plaintiff should’ve won. They didn’t have a written contract everything was verbal so if she verbally said the loan was forgiven how is able to just change her mind? And it’s like the judge missed the part where the plaintiff said her son would call and say Amanda needed help as if his bum ass wasn’t staying there and really needed the help😑

The defendant need to make better choices for her kid if not for her own desperate self. The defendant took advantage of the plaintiff plain and simple. She don't owe her a break because her son was there. Its always the ones who let others make a fool of them that try to use others that try to help them. She had no intentions of paying that lady back. The ending shows what a liar and idiot she is.
