It's not hard to do some RAM / Storage upgrade. but it's important to check that your not violating your product warranty. if you care, of course.

I was wondering, what if my laptop only has 1 ssd slot? I still want to upgrade it and put windows on it. But what if my single ssd in my laptop is the booter ssd and I want to upgrade that one ssd and have windows on it as well?

@@VeeTalksStuff In that case you will need to do some preparation steps. 1. Copy important files to external storage, 2. create Windows bootable USB. - then you can upgrade to new SSD , install windows with bootable USB, and copy your files to new system. Or you also have second option: 1. Buy m.2 to USB adapter. 2. connect your new SSD through USB. 3. Clone your Windows system to new SSD using third party software(ex: Acronis True Image).

It's important to note that some laptops with RGB lights have their module connected straight to the motherboard, and by opening the laptop one could break those cables! Be careful!

@@VeeTalksStuff you have 2 ways to do it if you have a usb stick and want a fresh install of windows you can reinstall windows but if you want all the files from your other drive you can get an m.2 to usb adapter and use a cloning tool to have all your files preinstalled onto the drive

@@VeeTalksStuff if ypu wanted to uograde ur win 10/11 ssd you have to transfer Windows to another drive then get in the new ssd then transfer back Windows to you boot ssd. Im going to do the same thing in the future.

That opening is sure the more common one but some laptops u need to unscrew from the bottom and then lift the keyboard up and u will find some other screws and thats the most "difficult" way to open a laptop.

when I reconnected my battery, there was a blue spark on the right side in the connector but wasn't there after fully plugged in. The laptop turns on but is this anything to worry about or just electricity trying to jump the gap?

I spent probably £350 on going from 8gb to 12gb ram and an SSD from an HDD on my 4 year old laptop but saved my well over £800 if I just went and bought a new laptop. So upgrading is the way to go if its possible.

So there is no specific brand to use for ram? Just the DDR4 or DDR5? And the SSD, you just look at the generation?

Just to note : it is usually not necessary to put thermal pads for RAM cards. There might not even be a heat sink for them depending on model. Though maby the double-sided 32GB ones need the extra heat dissipation. Follow what applies for your laptop and RAM sticks.

my laptop has 4 slots currently only 2 are used, do I have to match exactly i believe they are two 8 gbs to make up 16, can I put two 16s in the other two empty slots? I got everything up to the partition part. Does replacing ram erase your Microsoft documents? Should I create a backup copy on a separate USB drive for all my documents in word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Yes, a backup is always a good way to make sure u don't lose anything. I would suggest a full backup to a cloud, and another backup on a physical drive if u can afford it.

Only if you want to keep your old files and programs you need to turn it on and clone your drive first. If not then you can just swap it out and reinstall everything

I just upgraded last week for 32 gb of ram but I didn't watch any videos on how to put it on. When I put the first one in, I was getting excited but when I was about to put the second stick, I saw it didn't fit and didn't know I could just put it upside down. God I was about to throw my laptop.

ram doesnt change anything of your computer just upgrades it but if your laptop has 2 m.2 slots you can put both drives in it but if theres only one you can swap it out and clone it@@BongooVR

could have mentioned the difference between single rank and dual rank ram. especially since many gaming laptops use shitty single rank to safe few bucks but costing the user a lot of power

hi, i work at tech for less and when you are taking on and off make use to be care when upgrading because you do not want to mess any thing up because laptop parts are expensive and don't shock yourself

Don't bother trying this with your HP laptop......the HP designers seem to have spent thousands of hours to make upgrading as difficult as possible.
