I have the original stainless steel peanut from around 6 or 7 years ago. Still works like a charm and yes it is air tight and does not lose lighter fluid

They come in Aluminium, Steel, Brass and Titanium. In three sizes split-pea, peanut and peanut xl.

I bought a peanut lighter from countycomm years ago. I don't see much difference in the construction other than size as mine would evaporate fuel all the time. Put some Zippo fuel in this and close it for a couple months since this holds more fuel and lets see if it actually held fuel.

I have been holding off on purchasing Zippos for the very fact they leak fuel and it evaporates away over time. In my opinion, as a non smoker and someone who only needs a flame on occasion, I would be wasting more fuel than I actually would get to use. Now, this product is sealed by an O-ring, that means I won't be losing fuel. I feel like I should seriously consider this tool because because of that and that it is refillable and serviceable, which BIC butane lighters really are not.

+cutlerylover I have a Peanut clone made by True Utility that is basically the same, with O ring and lighter part looks exactly the same. In my experience it WILL evaporate all fuel in a few months time. Possibly this is due to cheaper materials but basically it can only be the O ring allowing slight evaporation, even when very tightly closed. Did you ever actually store a peanut lighter for say a year and try to light it?

Sorry Jeff, but as a "survival" lighter these suck. They dry up too, just not so fast as regular zippos. I have few of them, tested them. None of them did last more than a couple of month. From the other hand I have a 7/11 lighter which is six years old and still working. What does work is a Zippo fuel container. I filled it with a fuel five years ago and left on the shelf. It is still full.
