Yup, the wick is the only part that's tricky, i suggest you do a video on how it's done and add a link to that video. Cause that's what ppl come for :)

Seriously, if you don't know how to push a wick through a hole, you have failed at the most basic things in life. I'd nominate you for darwin award.

Everyone wants to know how to replace the wick. I have several of these lighters and smaller and I have yet to find a better way to do that.

Great vid, you saved me from buying another lighter, mine wouldn't spark, realized the flint screw came off, simple fix. Nice Job !!!!!

I had already sussed this out, but its nice to know my thinking was right, the dolphin lighter I bought had Chinese instructions and were tiny, so they were little help, but due to the fact I have watched a lot of youtube videos on lighters, I was able to get it going easily.

Ok here's what i did to get the wick through: pull the middle white part out, an inch or so and cut it off. This will make the circumference manageable. THEN tie a regular sewing thread to the very end of the outer shell, as tight as you can get. Make sure the sewing thread is a strong one. After this you may need to trim the end a little bit, possibly at an angle (mileage varies) :) And then gently but firmly pull it through... I inserted from the top and i disassembled the metal silinder altogether, so i had better access from the bottom side. Pulled it through with tweezers as soon as a millimeter or 2 of the copper thread was showing.

Actually as i was pulling on the sewing thread, i also used a blunt drill bit tool at the same time to help it (the end of the wick) along from the top, i would say a large paperclip should work just as well for this purpose.

Brilliant tutorial. I recieved a peanut lighter the same as yours today without any instructions at all. People just presume that everyone is a smoker so know what to do with the thing to fill it etc. With this video I now know how to fill it but also whats inside etc. I just need to go find one for the other light I got.

just the information I was looking for - thank you buddy :) p.s. 'twisting' the wick in from the top worked best for me - still a little tricky (ty again from UK)

I would Recommend taking a needle and sticking it down through the top, then taping the wick to it (Like snaking a wire).

I love the parcel hook. Some people just have no imagination. :D Good point about the cork screw too. Those things do have some interesting alternate applications.

Yes but when it gets short you can pull up more from inside. It's a slow process, it would probably take nears of normal use to consume it. Also it's replaceable.

The pulling through is not the problem. the problem is getting a new wick into the hole.

Crap, sorry about the premature post...creating somewhat of a point, push through the wick hole (from the outside) reach up inside the case and grab the tip of the wick with a pair of long tipped needle nose pliers...

I have a friend that owns a small general store. They stock butane liquid refills. Can I use that. I bought a peanut lighter a few years ago and it dried up a few days later. I have never refilled it, but I think it would still come in handy for something like camping.
@Lazylizardgear
@Lazylizardgear 9 жыл бұрын
Tengaryu These don't use butane, they use the kind of fuel that contains naphtha. Butane is a gas, these lighters need a flammable liquid.
