An overview of the current loco stock on the Peckforton Light Railway. When I first constructed the PLR, I thought I would only ever need three or four locos. That was 14 years ago and now I have 23! I don't really need 23, but when I see an attractive looking loco, I just can't resist! For more information about how the locos were constructed or modified or acquired, see riksrailway.blogspot.com. Music is copyright free and provided by Corel VideoStudio ScoreFitter software.

Intended: 4 locomotives. Actual: 23 locomotives. Impressive margin of error, but then I recognise the problem - I don't currently have any track laid at all (although I'm hoping to get 12ft laid this year as a test track) and I already own 4 partially built SM32 locos. I should go do some more work on them... :)

Lovely work Rik! I've wanted to start a railway in my yard for Ages but Space is always the issue. Seeing someone with this much passion towards the hobby makes me have hope for the future. Again, lovely work.

The difference in style between each of your locomotives, while still having a cohesive color scheme and so on, is incredibly satisfying, particularly locos built to resemble styles of the various different builders. I also find myself more drawn to your diesel locos and railbuses. It is so hard to make a model narrow gauge diesel locomotive interesting since the prototypes can be so boxy, but you've made some really fun, quirky internal combustion locos that are a treat to watch.

I do like a bit of variety on my railway. My rationale is that my railway has bought up some of the stock from other NG railways as they closed down in the Great Depression of the 1920s and 30s

Thanks for that Rik. After enjoying many of your stories on the line this puts the foundations under the locos used. It's particularly nice to hear the technical aspects of each. Much appreciated . I found myself driving past Peckforton recently on a work trip, and smiled knowing that somewhere nearby is a whole mini world of narrow gauge charm ! Kindest regards Gary

Thanks. It's as much a reminder to me of what each loco is called and its technicalities as something to share with the world. My hope is that there might be someone out there who is thinking of starting a garden railway and maybe they might be encouraged to have a go themselves.

Hi John. It surprised me as well. I had stopped numbering them when I got to 15 but when I needed to catalogue my videos I needed to number them all to identify them in each clip. I've got quite a few name and number plates to source now ......

The older loco's dont really show up anymore, a shame given Tarporly is my favourite loco
@rikbennett9
@rikbennett9 Жыл бұрын
Hi Isaac. That's possibly true. Tarporley (loco No. 5) was my fifth loco and since then another 20 have been added to the fleet, so inevitably it now has a lot more locos to compete with. Looking at the stats in my video spreadsheet, I see she has appeared 13 times in videos and so is one of the locos I've used the least (#1 = 23 times, #2 = 54, #3 = 23. #4 = 27 .....) It appeared in Morning Mood (Aug 2021) and Easter Run (Apr 2019) and A Trip Down Memory Line (Feb 2019). Now I've got more Southwold rolling stock, it might appear more often

A great locomotive roster you have there. What’s interesting about your sound cards especially the MyLocoSound cards is that the man behind the MyLocoSound brand I know very well. He’s a great friend of mine and I have his OO Gauge Model Railway modelled upon the famous Devizes branch in Wiltshire. You can see the layout on my channel if you wish to view it. I also have videos of his garden line located in South Australia. He’s going to be helping me with fitting my newly acquired G and Gauge 1 locomotives to battery operation. My garden line will be an American themed layout based upon 3 foot and standard gauge operations in the Western part of the United States of America with some reference to standard gauge operations on the East Coast as well. What powers your water feature? It’s obviously a continuous feed system, yes? The first time I saw your railway I was like, man I have to that on my railroad 😍. Great video, man! Thanks for sharing. Regards, Caleb

Thanks for sharing your roster Rik! With regard to charging, do you make up battery packs (LiIon 3x 18650) and have a dedicated charger? If so what charger do you use? I’m new to Li Ion and looking to convert my battery fleet this way. P.s love the history series.
@rikbennett9
@rikbennett9 3 жыл бұрын
Hi - Yes, I make up my own li-ion battery packs with 3 x 18650 li-ions. It's essential that you use a battery protection board with them to ensure they don't become over-discharged - riksrailway.blogspot.com/2017/03/a-quick-introduction-to-batteries-for.html#protection . I use an iMax B6 charger which can be a bit daunting when it arrives but it's dead easy once you get the hang of it - riksrailway.blogspot.com/2017/05/quick-introduction-to-imax-b6-charger.html

Love your work your arduino projects have me collecting bits to do arduino radio control .i have a question the mp3 unit can be controlled by resistors my thought is to put them on the transmiter read by analog pin and then controlled by analog pin in receiver ? Do you think it to be the right path.
