The song originally 8 minutes long. The producer said it would never get airplay. Lolly worked all night to shorten it enough. Other songs are: We Were Wounded At Wounded Knee Witch Queen Of New Orleans One More Time Tennessee Girl Niji Trance Chant 13th hour Light As A Feather Suzi Girl And many more. They were passionate about their heritage. And yes this is from 1973. Wavoka from that album was very popular too.

Redbone is the first Native group to make the top ten on Billboard. Their placement in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie is perfect. I have one for you, BP: "Jeff Beck Group" is the name of the album and check out "Ice Cream Cakes" or "Sugar Cane" as well as other songs on the album. Jeff BEck was one of the guitar gods of the sixties and beyond who came out of the British Invasion of the "60's" This album is from 1972 and you won't regret it. I'll be watching for it.

The bassist is Pat Vegas and the one singing is his brother "Lolly" Vegas. They are of Indigenous (Yaqui/Shoshone) Mexican descent. The other guitarist (dancing) is Tony Bellamy. He is listed as Indigenous (Yaqui) Mexican descent. Lou Diamond Phillips is of Scots-Irish and Cherokee descent via his father. Nothing noted about his mother. Both (Pat Vegas and Phillips) are handsome men and there is some similarity present in their features and stage presence when they were both younger. Diamonds played Ricky Valens in La Bamba.

Funny you should say that one guy looks like Lou Diamond Phillips. Lou does has Cherokee blood from his father who was "an American of Scots-Irish and Cherokee descent". From Wikipedia: He has remained close to the Native American community and was adopted by an Oglala Lakota Sioux family in a traditional ceremony in 1991.[44] His Lakota name translates to "Star Keeper".[45] In 1990, Phillips organized a concert called "The Winds of Life" to benefit Native American causes.[46]
